That's cool and all, but I thought Indy could have gotten a better return for Collison than Mahimi. Unless I'm really missing something special about the Mahimi.

I totally agree with you, Cuban fleeced Indy. But hopefully he caps himself out and keeps Dallas from being able to sign a max contract next summer. So keep making moves over there Marky Mark

well mahinmi looked pretty solid in the second half of the season - he's young and is supposedly a hard worker- i think collison is a legit starting PG, but indiana's biggest asset at this point is hibbert and mahinmi protects that asset

Collison was his guy, and I guess Indy will go in another direction now. Wish we had a shot at that.

WTF.

i get so sick of seeing other teams making dramatic improvements with nothing more than the scrubs of their team to offer.

we used to do that, once upon a time. Pietrus, Bass, Barnes, Carter... we had a stretch where every move we made I was totally onboard with. then, it all just went south... Duhon, Q, Arenas, Turk, JRich...

Chad Ford ‏@chadfordinsider
Did the Pacers just trade a young, starting PG who led team in playoff PER for the right to pay a back-up center $16M?

Why so much love for Darren Collison? Shock value drives up the stock of players year after year and people rarely learn from it. Early last season people were raving that the Heat didn't need Chris Paul because Norris Cole was an emerging star. Jeremy Lin has one good month before teams collapsed on him and he just signs a ridiculous contract. Just the other day people around here were drooling of Ramon Sessions, now Darren Collison? Collison filled in nicely for Paul when he went down in New Orleans but people blew that way out of proportion. If Sessions and Collison had half the potential that you guys claim they do they wouldn't be sitting around waiting for a contract or be shipped away for nothing.

I know Nelson isn't the best option at starting PG and if we had a happy Dwight Howard along with a strong core, I would agree that these are guys to target for depth. However, a rebuilding team should not be interested in offering a long term contract to someone with a very real and mediocre ceiling.

You can take your logical thinking and GTFO.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Don't you think that dealing with the Dwight situation should take precedence as it sets the tone for the rest of the off-season/season?

For what Dallas gave up for him, Collison was great value. he's a more than capable starting PG, and i think you'll see his numbers pick up considerably in Dallas.

it really depends on your expectations of these player? if you think they'll continue as 20/10 guys, then you're kidding yourself. if you think they should promise as good playmakers and floor generals, that they have a propensity to score in bunches and that they can get the ball to the open man - then you'd be right and you're less likely to be disappointed in their performance going forward.

most of all, Dallas getting Collison - a serviceable and potentially valuable starter, for a bench guy, is just one giant turkey slap in the face of JRich/Hedo/Duhon/et al.

Gerald Green has agreed to a contract with the Pacers, according to a report from Peter Vecsey.

Indiana also had interest in O.J. Mayo and Courtney Lee.

what's the vision of this team? are we in tank and rebuild mode, or are we in add winning veterans and compete now mode?

no reason we can't be addressing either of those visions regardless of what happens with Dwight.
