Jose Bautista trades (FANTASY IDEAS)

Post#1 » by number15 » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:17 pm

What do you think we could get for Jose Bautista on the market, say if he asked to be dealt and AA started looking.

what does AA ask for... and what does he actually land?

I think we could've had Mike Trout during the offseason when the Angels were going all in

You'd need a hell of a lot more than just minor league prospects to deal Bautista away. It would probably be difficult to get equal value back, really.

I can see him asking to be traded if we're not major contenders in 2 years.

This is pointless to discuss. Bautista is not going anywhere; there is no trade that you can pull on the market to make the Jays better by replacing him. Bautista right now is:

1. Our most marketable player, probably brings in mad money for the team
2. Our best performer, top in many offensive categories along with superior defense
3. Signed to one of the most team-friendly contracts in MLB

Even if someone offers you a superstar player for him, the incoming player probably has a salary twice of Bautista. This idea does not even get entertained in the front office.

1. From a marketing perspective, Lawire has more value than Bautista

3. You don't trade Bautista for another superstar. You deal him for some stud prospects

Only prospect I trade Bautista for is Profar BTW. Kid is going to be a superstar SS. Texas is a team that actually has the players to get a deal done, and the incentive to actually to trade for Bautista.

Of course, it will never happen.

I liked the spring-training idea of Bautista for Trout and Trumbo. I think I said as much, I can't remember.

Hindsight is 20/20, though.

Looking back on that Toronto would be stacked now with Trout/Trumbo/Rasmus in the outfield. I would hate to see Jose gone but man thinking of those 3 growing together + Gose would be sick. With Trumbo you could throw him at 1B as well if you want to play Gose/Trout/Rasmus in the outfield.

I doubt we get this deal now

Doubt? There isn't a snowballs chance in hell we'd get that deal now. Jbau for Trout straight up would probably be laughed off the table.
