Kobe is not overrated, he's one of the all time greats..But I think when it's all said and done James will have a more impressive career..We'll see how many Rings he can get, but I think James has a chance to be regarded as the best ever..He just has to keep putting in that work and stay hungry.

This thread comes off as way more insecure than anything Kobe said.

You can be one of the all time greats and still be overrated

Yeah, it sounds like all he's saying is that "winning it all" isn't the endgame but rather a point on the road to greatness.

Nothing wrong with what he said and it doesn't come off butthurt at all.

This is a good thing. The more kobe mentions how many more rings he has than lebron, the better it is for us

I'd have to agree. I think Kobe's overrated too, as is his "clutchness". And he came up lame in the finals more often than not. People give Lebron crap for his 2007 finals against the Spurs. Well, check out 2004 Kobe against the Pistons and come back to me.

Overrated the same way Ewing was overrated. Great scorer, but pumped up image by playing on the Lakers and winning early next to Shaq.

And yeah, he's jealous, too. Competitive, sure, but still jealous as hell.

Well kobe needs to just stop talking. You won 2 rings as the man, and three as a distant second option. He also sabotaged the best team of the early 2000's b/c of his ego. I am so tired of hearing rings as a measuring point for greatness. Rings are a team accomplishment and when you are a member of the Lakers you have a legit shot to win a ring every season. Lebron has had a significantly better career than kobe through 9 years of their respective careers and b/c Kobe is who he is this bothers him.

Lebron has had 2 legit chances at winning rings and won once. Kobe has had at least 10 legit shots at winning a ring and had 5. Remeber Kobe has been to 7 finals all of which his team was the favorite, often by a wide margin. If you really compare these two players their is no comparison, so he should just keep his mouth shut.

+1. People are too sensitive about it. Kobe most likely got asked a question and answered it honestly. He even compared our situation to his back then, when he didn't think one was enough for himself and I agree. I want more out of this than one championship. I don't care much for personal player legacies, I want the Miami Heat to be considered one of the elite franchises in the NBA and despite our good moves in the past years, we'll need titles to confirm it.

Oh come on, I'm sure LeBron even agrees.

LeBron's goal should be multiple championships, and he has stated it is.

People tend to remember players who have won multiple championships. Those go down as the greatest. You can't win just one and expect everyone to bow down at you when there are players infront of you with MANY rings.

One is a start.

Yes , it did.

Kobe know's lebron is elite, is his peer.

Kobe is speaking about his peer. On a subject they agree about.

They agree Lebron must carry on winning threw out his career to enter the realm of all time greats.

Fair or not , the bar for historic greatness in most sports is championship level performance.

NOT about being there when a ring was won.
But being the reason the ring was won...

Heat Stan's if there is one thing I love about Kobe is that he speaks his mind. I believe in his mind bron will never surpass him. Is he wrong? IMO yes bron can surpass him easily even in legacy with 2 or 3 fmvps . In his mind Kobe believes bron will never surpass him. I can guarantee lebron thinks the same way of Durant

The Kobe 5 rings thing is so damn annoying. The "he needs one more to tie Jordan" crap is so ridiculous. Winning 5 titles doesn't make Kobe this icon like Jordan or light years better then Lebron. The dude was not the best player on 3 of his 5 title teams.. Like Lebron wouldn't have had multiple titles if he was drafted by the Lakers, played with prime Shaq, coached by Phil Jackson, etc. Lebron was drafted to arguably the worst franchise in all major sports.

How many rings would Kobe have if flipped spots with Lebron, during Lebrons first 7 seasons? Dude couldn't even win 36 games with Lamar Odom, Caron Butler etc.

Bottom line.. Give prime Shaq any All-star(TMac, Ray Allen, even Reggie Miller) wing player they win several titles together. Amazing how little respect Shaq gets for those 3 titles by so many people. Like Wade was the main guy for Shaq in 06... Shaq was by far the main guy for the Lakers early 2000 titles.

Lebron definitely knows that. He said that much himself to Shaq and Chuck in the postgame but why would Kobe be trying to remind him though?
It's kinda obvious you're a bit young, it's what these guys do all the time and have since winning title meant anything. Kobe wasn't being ill at LeBron at all.

Why are so many people butthurt about Kobe's comment he is telling the truth and even if you don't count the first 3 rings Kobe has 2 as the man so lebron still needs one or two more ring to become undisputedly better.

Yeah LeBron shouldn't go for a possible 2nd 3rd 4th...
