Depending on the team one is more useful than the other

Now the Bucks have spent some time developing Ersan so I would be surprised if they S&T him for Humphries unless they knew he would sign with a third team as a FA otherwise.

Ilysova is better...period.

Yeah not really. For as much as people love to complain about Humphries defense Ilyasova's defense is noticeably worse.

It's easy to fall in love with Ersan given his fluke season from three (46%), but Nets fans need to realize that when it comes to Ersan or Hump the grass isn't always greener on the other side...

Both of these guys have a place in the league, and I can understand wanting Ersan over Humphries based on age but let's not act like Ersan is on another level than Hump because that's flat out wrong.

I updated it real quick (am half asleep), I have to do some more digging on Taylor's contract. We know for certain that it's not a 1 year deal, I can't recall off the top of my head what the typical contract the Nets have given to second rounders has been these last few years...

I'd imagine it's a 3 year deal with the 2nd and 3rd years being partially unguaranteed.

For Stackhouse he's earning about $1.3 - $1.4 million but only that $850k counts against the salary cap (veteran's minimum)...

The Nets are also being charged with cap holds since they have less than 12 players under contract (which I didn't take into account, but will add tomorrow / whenever I update again)...

---

I think the relevant take away is that the Nets are roughly $5.7 million under the luxury tax if they let Humphries walk for nothing. I wonder if that's the reason why we haven't heard too much about the Nets negotiating a new deal with him...

Could be that the team will let him walk and look for cheaper fill-ins (or more likely that there's some sort of sign-and-trade in which the Nets take back a player earning less money).

I just don't understand why you have Hump at $12M

I would sign Hump for that 1 year contract right now if it can be done. Hell, I would give him 1 year 20 mil if they let me.

January 15th...added to Brook it becomes much easier to eat some Orlando trash which seems to be what they want most.

Do we think King is smart enough to use the remaining cap space to add expiring contracts or contract?

The problem with giving Hump a one year deal is that he'll have the right to refuse any trade he wants. It would have to be a multiyear deal where the 2nd is a team option or something and I'm not sure Humphries would go for that.

Ah! That's fine. I should have said a contract that is only guaranteed for 1 year. I dont care who we get. Sign Dikembe Mutombo for all I care. Just get contracts that are tradeable assets for the season.

I read that we are in talks with the Cavs for a proposed Hump S&T with Antawn Jamison. I don't know the deal yet...

That's the main reason why I want this team to desperately give Sundiata Gaines the 5 million we could offer him. Give him a multiyear deal, the 2nd year being completely unguaranteed. By doing that you have a 5 million expiring contract to offer Orlando. And Gaines WOULD gladly accept that. He knows damn well he isn't getting 5 million again in his lifetime.

Current state of nets salary cap...

If a s/t for hump doesn't go down I'd give him a silly $15m per deal for 2 years with the 2nd year a team option.

He would never turn that down or give him as much as possible so we could flip him with Lopez for Howard & take back Howard, Hedo, J Richardson & hopefully Clark.

I think that chart has JJ's contract wrong. Doesn't it have 4 years remaining (not 5)?

Maybe King isn't that stupid after all:

Deron Williams - 5 year deal, opt out at 4 (2016)
Joe Johnson - 4 years left (2016)
Gerald Wallace - 4 years (2016)
Brook Lopez - 4 years (2016)

So who's available that summer? =D
