Anyone else mad we didn't get Collison from Indiana?

Post#1 » by hornacek4three » Thu Jul 12, 2012 12:57 pm

Mavs only have to give up Mahinmi. I feel like he could have helped us. It's hard not to think about how little Phoenix had to pay for Dragic, Toronto had to give up for Lowry and Dallas had to give up for Collison. Ugh...I still believe in KOC...just a rough week or so

Yes. They are making the Mo Williams move not look quite so brilliant.

I can't even think about those moves those three teams made without getting upset. If I didn't know those types of deals could be had, I would be super happy with Mo Williams. Maybe I need a break from hoopshype and realgm until basketball season

I'm all about Goran Dragic, but we didn't have the space for him anyway.

And if Indiana was targeting a back-up big, we don't have a Mahinimi-level guy to offer them. Jefferson makes too much money, Millsap is a better player than Collison, Favors and Kanter are the future, and Evans isn't good enough.

59Sound, that is probably the truth. It is still tough to watch all these teams making moves for point guards that could help us. I'll say it again:this free agency period is too up and down to follow on an hourly basis. It's like watching the Jazz play and living and dying by each basket; you got to understand that each games has ups and downs and you got to ride out some of those storms

I like Collison. I was debating with my friend ways to trade for him before we did the Mo Williams thing. At least getting Mo Williams didnt cost us any assets....

It does suck that we weren't able to work something out for Collison but it is funny how overrated he was by Indy fans. They didn't want to do a Millsap for Collison swap. Millsap > Mahinimi.

Collison has been very dissapointing the last two years in Indiana..... After his rookie year performance I thought he was going to be something special, but he has been really underwhelming......

I just don't see him as a franchise PG anymore....... I don't think he's going to have as good a career as what Mo Williams is going to give us.......

For that cheap, yes.

I think we could make a run at him in FA next year though.

No, he had a few good months in New Orleans during his rookie year in which he seemed like he was a star in the making. After going to Indiana he had every chance to establish himself as their point guard of the future and instead ended up losing his role to George Hill in the playoffs (who isn't even good enough to be a starter either).

Pacers are looking for the same type of PG the Jazz are looking for.
If they dont want him then I dont either.

I get the impression that the Jazz have their sights set on someone in particular for the future PG spot. Mo might be nothing more than a good way to fill the gap until the Jazz make their run at the real PG through free agency next year, the draft, trade or from overseas.

No.

Darren Collison is a career NBA 13/5 guy in his prime.

He shoots a much higher percentage than DJ Augustin, though. I think it's a definite downgrade for Indiana.

Plus they are paying him more than they would've paid Collison. Strange days indeed.
