Houston might be willing to take the chance - what do they really have to lose? In either case, Hennigan has completely lost all leverage. Which is why he now is crawling back to Howard and asking him to stay. I doubt that the Nets are offering much come Jan. Hennigan should have taken the best offer available, the offers will only get worse from hereon.

Letting Dwight walk is better than what we would get from the Nets. That trade would have gone down as one of the worst in history.

My experience is 90% of the "source" stories out now are leaks from agents. Sometimes the player and agent aren't on same page.#Grainofsalt

Where is this coming from that the Nets walked away after a counter offer? What counter offer? That's bull. Nets gave a deadline yesterday because of Lopez agent wanting his client signed.

Saying the Rockets don't offer cap space, draft picks, or talent is like saying 1+2=4. Just a completely off base contradiction to facts.

it worked for the nets. why wouldn't it work for houston

You seriously think a rookie playing in a couple summer league games has the potential to change his mind? You think he's going to chance his future on this guy?

Good god man

Plus losing Ryno is a negative to team perception, not a positive

Ryan Anderson not being here is a plus for the Magic and him.

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: Last in a series. OKC. Deep Thunder rent him in best title shot try for Harden/Perkins or /Ibaka/Maynor/Perk scenario

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: Houston..Rockets will sell souls to land him as rental, and can take bad Magic contracts. Plus he can walk to free agency

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: Nets...Brooklyn can revisit trade in January with Magic, which would mean Dwight would start season in ORL. Comical

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: Chicago. It's DRose's town and team. Bulls would have to offer Noah, LDeng and TGibson or combo thereof.

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: N.Y. Knicks would offer Tyson Chandler and change, but NY out of assets unless it's a 3-way. Chandler still owed $42m.

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: L.A. The other L.A. team, the Clippers. Straight-up trade for Blake Griffin now would pair Dwight and Chris Paul.

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: L.A. He hates following Shaq and being 2nd banana to Kobe. But Nash is there, and in 2 yrs., Dwight will own Hollywood

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Dwight's choices: Orlando. Oh, wouldn't deciding to sign an extension just beat all after this circus? Magic want him back if he's all in

Brian K. Schmitz‏@MagicInsider
Where does Dwight go now that the Nets are no longer an option? Welcome to my 140-character series on Twitter... Here we go

If we let dwight walk at the end of this season we can buy out Duhon (not that much of a cap killer), trade J Rich (should be able to find someone looking for him at end of season) and that leaves Hedo as our only bad contract. He could possibly be moved at the end of the season since only part of his last year is guaranteed.

You suck the next year and begin the rebuild. All the trade does is make the rebuild 1 year shorter.

So a trade is coming before camp. Matter now where Magic can get best deal for Dwight, likely between LAL and HOU. Is there a mystery guest?

Brian K. Schmitz ‏@MagicInsider
Of course Dwight rejected Magic offer to return. It's personal, and he wants a fresh start after the never-ending mess in Orlando

Damn. Houston looks to be front runner. I'd rather have L.A. package.

If we got Gasol AND Bynum, pull the trigger and call it a day.

Gasol can always be traded for valuable assets.

Sources say that is the plan, but LA isn't budging (yet). I wonder what's the internal deadline to make something happen?

I'd take anything. Bynum and Gasol at this point feels like a steal. Getting rid of everything in Houston also very appealing. There's no way they give up that much and that's on the table during this whole BKN mess. It must be true that Henny had to negotiate with BKN just to show Dwight he was trying. Then he asked for extension, Dwight refused, now he goes in for the kill.
