Why he NEEDED money from Boston?
That's BS... He was never going to accept an offer from Ainge and Ainge knew it. That's why the JET was priority numero uno (barring the obviousness of bringing Kevin back).
Now that Ray has pulled this I have new found respect for Rondo. It's like all this time I thought it was Rondo vs. Ray (and sometimes the "vets", including Doc who favors vets) but really it was just Ray being a complete chump with a traitorous heart.
I hope Rondo rips out his heart this season and the Celtics shall use it as an offering to the basketball gods!

Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
Why he NEEDED money from Boston?
Ray wanted more money from us because he didn't really want to be on the Celtics. Its very simple really.. It happens all the time to executives IRL - they want to leave the company offers more money so they stay.
Felgler claims that Rondo went to Doc and pleaded for Bradley to start. Amusingly enough it turns out coach Rondo was 100% right. We were much better with the short energetic Bradley then the ancient smooth shooting Allen.
But come on people if someone at you work asked for you to be demoted - and your boss listened. Wouldn't you want to find another place to work? OR barring that get more money to suffer through it?
We didn't REALLY want Ray IMHO and Ray didn't really want to stay with us. If we want to be angry it should be at Danny for not trading his overrated behind when we could have got something for him and knowing from the inside that Ray didn't get along with the brass/Rondo and might not resign with us anyway.
That was actually big failure. Ray sucked in the playoffs. That and not resigning Tony Allen were pretty huge mistakes. Imagine we had Tony Allen to help us defensively this year against Lebron and Wade. Damn...

Ray Allen Yo. You're getting booed. Do something about it.
Can we get rid of donny Marshall now? I don't want to keep hearing him tickle rays balls, and you know he will forever.
Can we change the thread name to "peek a boo, we wont miss you"?

Didn't you guys try to trade him for the last two years even told him this year he was traded to memphis till they backed away and back stabbed you? I don't get it. I'm not much of an Allen fan myself but this isn't a good reason to hate on him

This is considered baiting. This is your only warning.
EDIT: Wait...how many warnings do you already have against your record? Wow.

What are you talking about HE backed away? No details of any deal for allen have been released so dont make things up. Also, heat fans coming in here and saying "lol why you made though" is really idiotic. Please go jump back on your bandwagon, we will all wait and see who you root for in 3 years when Miami is irrelevant again.

Sorry to clarify I meant memphis. Just because you believe people are bandwagoners does not mean what some people here are saying is not illogical.

With all those steroids and human growth hormones they NEEDED TO ADD OUTSIDE SHOOTERS WHO DON'T JUICE UP.
Lewis and ray...hmmmm two shooters with no steroids used....
Human growth hormone users on the heat:
Lebron- can't shoot, but during playoffs without HgH use, finds his stroke
Wade- injury prone, so will rely on HgH , therefore limiting him to drives to the basket and poor shooting.
Chalmers- people say he's a shooter, but he's a chucker...its not like HgH completely eliminates shooting.
Bosh-just doing it to be cool, and fit in. Figures.

Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
Tanguay and Marshall have always been Ray Allen suckups. Remember when Tanguay came on at halftime of Game 1 against Atlanta and syas stay tuned for Donny Marshall's analysis of how Atlanta has figured out Avery Bradley. What a crock.
Bradley struggled in that Game 1 and Marshall and Tanguay couldn't wait to seize the oppurtunity to turn as many Celtics fans as they could against the guy so that their was an outcry for Doc to return Ray to the starting lineup when he came back from his injury. It was obvious anyone with their finger on the pulse could pick up on their agenda.
Tanguay and Marshall probably got a lot of leaked info from Ray and I'm sure it won't stop this year when somehow someway they will come up with anonymous sources around the league who feel Bradley has this or that wrong with his game, Rondo is hated around the league, yada, yada, yada. Give me Tommy's homerism anyday of the week over tools like Tanguay and Donny who only care about their "sources". Crap.

Not only that but the theory that steroids = bad outside shooting is pretty suspect. LMAO. I am pretty sure roids would improve my shooting because you can recover so much faster.. Then again I am a few years older then Ray Allen.

LOL at Heat fans coming on the Celtics board. Fluckin pink hats trying to act like they know anything about what it takes to be great in the NBA long-term. They are on top now but let's see how they handle the pressure and rigors of trying to repeat.
The Heat just got older and they've already shown some vulnerability to fatigue, injury and age with Wade/Bosh and Battier, Ray, Miller, Lewis and Haslem are not exactly spring chickens. Lebron might be a freak of nature so there's no worry about him but if some of these other guys fall off or get hurt what type of load will Bron be carrying next season?
The tables are turning. The Celtics are going to be younger and deeper than the Heat next year and the Celtics, unlike the Heat are going to fly under the radar. I think this "going old" and "small" plan for Miami could really backfire when they get worn down through 82 games.
Then they're going to feel the wrath of a loaded and fresh Celtics team that is capable of punishing you inside while NOT sacrificing too much athletically. The Celtics are going to be a Heat killing machine and make no mistake about that. Why else would Terry be priority #1 in Free Agency?
I'm done with Judas Shuttlesworth and after the Celtics work over the Heat this year HE'S going to be all done. Can't wait to see Rondo, Bradley, Terry and Green work this old tired soft ask primadonna and run him off the court.

Weird the Heat got older but the Celtics got younger. The superstars I mean, Kg, Pierce and Rondo all must have time machine e?!?

Yes, the Celtics have a time machine. I am not sure if you know this, but the Heat have there very own board when you can talk about Heat stuff, like Dan Marino's retired number.

Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
No but the Celtics, unlike the Heat are adding several young, dynamic talents to their lineup - Bradley (all NBA defensive talent), Green (6th man of the year candidate, provides critical depth behind Pierce and can match up with Lebron/Melo) and Sullinger (top ten ready to go rookie). Rondo is a young guy and with so much depth behind Pierce/KG I think they'll be fresher next season and playoffs. Let's not forget Jason Terry. He's pretty good.
The Celtics are finally in a position financially where they can have a fully stocked roster. That hasn't happened in these last 5 years. The Celtics have been the Heat, trying to defend the title with limited assets and flexibility.
Well now the Celtics are fully stocked with YOUNG talent while the Heat are going to be depending around a ton of OLD past their prime role players. It's HARD to repeat.
I think the Celtics are clearly better at this point.

Re: Ray joins the Heat/Ray Allen appreciation thread
Another thing that I forgot about, but that a friend recently reminded me of was when they announced the pool of players for that 2002 WBC/2004 Olympic team, and Ray wasn't a part of the group in consideration. After the team got waxed repeatedly in 2002 in part because it had no outside shooting, everyone kind of realized "Hey! We should add Ray Allen to the team for the Olympics!" Then he kind of said "Nah, you didn't want me originally, so I'm not going.."
Ray is a sensitive guy. It could have been any number of perceived slights by the Celtics or his team mates that causes him to want to take his ball and go home. This also seems like a good time to bring up that he, along with Wade, said players should be paid to play in the Olympics. I know that as a Celtics fan I had conveniently 100% blocked that comment out of my memory but now is as good of a time as any to remember that he did indeed make that highly ignorant and ridiculous comment.

I'm getting the unpleasant feeling Ray could have a good year with Miami. He's with a new team, and could have a honeymoon accordingly. He will be coming off ankle surgery. Sounds a bit like 2008.

On the other hand, he's not all that young, unless you're comparing him to -- for example -- Ray Allen.

of course he could. its not like his shot deserted him. He was shooting like 45% from 3 this past year.

Well, ofc every1's comparing Ray to JT. He's not young, still more than 2 years younger than Ray. And a better scorer at this point.
Good assessment:
