Indy is a cap-conscious, money-tight team. So my take is that the Collison & Jones trade, Green signing and Augustin signing were dependent on each other. They only signed Green knowing they could move Jones, and the price for which was Collison. So I look at it like this:

Mahinmi + Augustin + Green for Collison + Jones.

That's a great bit of business, especially if Hansbrough moves on as well. Pretty happy with the strategic view from KP and DW, this was all planned as a single transaction.

I don't know that it's necessarily true that this was all pre-planned. A few things had to fall into place for Augustin to get his QO rescinded. Still, when you look at it as one total move it makes more sense. If we run Paul George with the second unit (Green + Mahinmi + Plumlee) then we really just need Augustin to throw alley-oops. The bench has gotten a lot more athletic this offseason.

They didn't necessarily plan for Augustin but another point guard. Could've been CJ Watson if Augustin wasn't available, for example.

If the space we saved manages to help us get Brand or Scola, then both Walsh and Pritchard are genuises.

Even if not, they've done pretty darn well so far this offseaon in my book.

I like this it rounds the team out nicely and I am betting Scotter is right that Collison was bent over losing his starting job. Mahimini will be a strong back up at center if we can get Scola I'd be very happy.

The cherry is missing.

We upgraded every position except SG:
Collison -> Augustin
Barbosa ->
Jones -> Green
Hansbrough -> Plumlee(hopefully)
Amundson -> Mahinmi

A position where we definitely could use some great ballhandling and penetration skills as our starting SG is 6'9" and struggles against the quicker opponents.

I have a feeling that cherry you're talking about is up next.

Tell me who? :D

My only possible cherries would be Roy, Mayo or Gordon.

Lee would be nice, but I don't think he is cherry material.

fellows, warms regards from Israel, you have reached very far :)

how the hell we supposed to get rich of Eric Gordon?
isn't he signed a new contract in New Orleans? isn't he deadly expensive for us?

i for say dont take Mayo as a game changing penetrator,but maybe it's just me.

hopefully PG is working this suumer on his offensive skills,especially penetration ones.

Welcome :)

I doubt we can get Gordon or Roy, but I still have a tiny bit of hope to get Mayo.
He too might take a 1-year deal to increase his value again, after openly being put on the trade block for more than a year.

PG should be training his penetration skills daily. U can never have enough penetration skills.

I have to think signing Green ends the interest in Mayo. personally I like Green who is 6'8" and can play 3 as well as 2.

I personally loves Green more than Mayo, who chokes in the playoff.

but considering our last season failure against the Heat, the most notable miising attribute from our side was the ability to organize the game and passing the ball to HIbbert and West.

Mayo brings with him those things, the ability to pass the ball and create for others- things that Green lacks of.

this is the only reason I believe the signing og Green is redundant if we can't acquire Mayo or Eric Gordon.

in other issue, the managment absolutly prefered Augostine from DC for that reason=the ability to arrange the game and using the ability of Hibbert and West inside.

I think Mayo is waiting for free agency to make him the central piece remaining. He's looking for more than the MLE (more than $5 million per year).

Mayo chokes in the playoffs? granted he didn't take over any games against the Clippers, Mayo has been extremely clutch for us against the Thunder and Spurs last year. Especially coming off the bench. He played so well last year Hollins brought him into starting lineup when we were down on the Thunder just to shake it up but it was his reward. How many players can bring A-game in the postseason coming off the bench? Less than 20 I bet you.

Yeah Mayo definitely thinks he's worth more than MLE. I like to watch your taem so I was hoping he'd land there. PHX would be fun to watch as well.

mate, as much as i concerened, Memphis lost in the last playoff to a team considerly weaker than them.
Mayo has a major part in that fiasco: avaraging 10.4 ppg with awful performance- only 35% from the field.

of course he had his flashes from time to time, but he didn't manage to contribute consistingly and keep his level up, as player with such talent must do.

nevertheless, if it possible to land him, we must do so - even if we pay him $8m a year.
