I have a bad feeling if we have to wait a week to do this deal that is will fall through. Is it certain that we have to wait for the Lin AND Asik situation's to be resolved BEFORE we can complete the trade? A lot can change in a week.
THAT'LL BE THE DAY!

Jameer/Wayns
Redick/Lamb/K-Mart (might be traded for more young players)
White/Harper
Baby/Nicholson/Jones
Ayon/O'Quinn/Baby
Anyone want to try to figure this out haha?
Situation is too fluid to know right now.

Basically we would be getting Martin, Parsons, Morris and Patterson to make the salary work, plus the draft rights to Lamb, White and Jones. We would also get the Raptors 1st round pick next year and the Rockets 2014 1st round pick.
We would send back Howard and a combination of Duhon, Hedo, QRich, JRich, BBD.
The Rockets will first finalize Lin's offer sheet and once the Knicks match, they will finalize Asik's offer sheet so it may be a week or so before a possible Houston/Magic trade happens, if it happens at all.
My thought on this trade is we take it and run if that is indeed what they offer. We gain exactly what the majority of us want. Youth, possible lottery picks and cap space.
Not only that but Dwight goes out West, Dwight doesn't get what he wants and Dwight NEVER wins a championship. This Houston trade is a dream scenario!

I have a feeling if we do indeed keep Hedo, he will be waived this year, not next year, unless there is a certain time we have to waive him in order to save 6 million.

I'm guessing the Rockets have another trade or two up their sleeve to entice Howard to stay in Houston, other wise they wouldn't be going balls out to get him. Probably have a plan to get Smith on their roster as well.

Howard walks in Free agency he leaves money on the table he would need a sign and trade to get max money. worst case for Houston, Howard still wants to leave they trade him to the nets and they get Brook Lopez.
The new CBA did away with sign and trades, unless you're a RFA so Howard will either accept the 100+ million the Rockets offer or he will walk and lose 30 million on the back end.
If cba did away with sign and trades, how did the Suns sign and trade Nash to the Lakers?
not trying to be smart, im just asking

There should be a 'Fan jersey trade' thread, for fans of teams involved in blockbusters... I wouldn't mind unloading a bunch of Howard jerseys to Rox fans I'll have no use for 'em after the trade.
Not a bad idea, I guess......
But they probably won't want them since it'll say "Magic" on the front, lol.

With Scola gone, no way this Houston trade doesn't go down for us, and I couldn't be happier. Cap flexibility, a young talented group with a few playoff experienced vets mixed in to keep the young guys in their lane, Dwight out west-not honoring his prima donna strangle hold he tried putting on the organization & Rob "The Hammer" Hennigan looking like a damn boss in his first 30 days on the job. We'll have a fun young team with upside for a decade and room to sign FA if necessary, love it.

They didn't completely do away with them.
A player receiving a max contract cannot be signed and traded to receive the full benefits he would receive if he would have stayed with his team (extra year, bigger yearly percent raises, etc).
They can still be signed and traded, but for a smaller deal. Nash is really a bad example since he wasn't getting a long term contract offer, nor the max.
Williams is a good example of the new rules actually working since going to the Mavs for most was a forgone conclusion due to the circumstances (he has ties in Dallas, Dirk was already there, Cuban being the owner, the Nets sucking hardcore, etc), but because of the new rule, he decided not to leave 20 to 25 million on the table. He says it was due to the Johnson trade, but that is a lie. He wants that extra year, extra 20 to 25 million he will gain by signing with the team who has his Bird Rights.

This deal can't be done quick enough. Once a huge Howard fan but that has all changed with the debacle that has taken place...

ok cool didnt know that, so he can be signed and traded just not for the max money the team he is on can offer
Thanks

Hell yeah, Parsons, Lamb, White and Jones AND draft picks AND taking darn near all our bad contracts. That's a pretty decent rebuild trade for us.

Man, if it goes down it would be huge!!!
I read today that maybe Harper and Clark could go to Houston for math salaries reasons.

fendilim wrote:I honestly dont see the Toronto pick being lotto. If its ends up a lotto, I'd say around top 12-13. No way they become lotto with the arrival of Jonas and Lowry. And lets not forget that the Bulls wont be having Deng and Rose for the early part of the season, Hawks is rebuilding, we're done. There's just too many changes in the East and injuries (Bulls) for the Raptors not to make the playoffs, IMO.
At this point Jonas is very unproven, IMO, i think he will take at least 1 season to adjust, so it's just Lowry, but i have to know that they will lose Calderon and Bayless too, so it isnt so different, IMO.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXVII Off-Season Editi
I never watched him play, but could this Marcus Morris be a steal? He was #14 pick last season and averaged 17/7 in college. Anyone knows better this player?

good. ship 'em out.
If this happens, i really hope Jameer has his summer workout event, he holds every offseason in Philly. That would be a great start.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt. XXXVII Off-Season Editi
IMO if this trade goes down here is what it will truly look like.
Magic gain - Martin, Parsons, Patterson, Morris (these 4 = Howard's contract), a combination of Lamb, White and Jones (I doubt we get all 3, but we will get at least 2 of them), the Raptors pick and 2 future Houston picks (2014, 2016). Martin's 13 million comes off the books in 2013.
Rockets gain - Howard and any combination of Hedo, Duhon, QRich, JRich and BBD (if I was a betting man I would say it will be JRich, QRich and BBD. We keep Duhon because he is the only backup PG we have and Hedo will stay because he sucks. The Magic will waive Hedo before the season or just play him sparingly during the season and then waive him after next season).
