Re: Kevin Seraphin
Isn't chandler the only real center on team USA's roster? Should be interesting if they match up. Seraphin could possibly the strongest low post olympic big man outside of M. Gasol.

Randy showed as a coach last year he'd play the best player, so at the very least it is on him whether he gets to start. I think he is aware of this, so he may actually push himself a bit more than initially. He had a great drive to improve being pretty much the only option, but who, knows maybe this helps in a way.
Good point, and if there's anyone who needs to improve for us to become a good team, it's Seraphin (after Wall ofcourse)...
I *do* hope Randy starts KSera and plays him 30 mpg; Okafor is nice to have, but he shouldn't be considered a future core piece...
The team is still developing and its future rides on Wall and the younger kids. Beal, Kevin, Ves, etc. Nene is a core piece so I can see him starting and getting his minutes but I still believe they will pace him.
I see no reason why they would give Okafor big minutes over the younger player as long as they show competence which Kevin and Ves have shown already. Okafor is not a core piece. I wouldn't count him in for any more then good bench minutes which could be 15-20 a night. Starting or not. That doesn't really matter.
I think they will stay the course and develop the younger player for the future with means plenty of minutes for Keven and Ves. Plus once Beal proves his sea legs he will get 15-20 a night.
This is a year to establish Wall at a top level talent and let the team gel while the other young players continue to develop. Trevor A will get his chance to show what he can do at SF but it won't be for more then this season. If he doesn't return to his LA form, they will look to upgrade at SF while auditioning other players on the roster for the position. If nothing works well they will likely bring in a big name at the trade deadline or over next summer.
The only player I see getting a regular 30 + minutes a game is Wall. Everyone else will start the year in the 20-25 minutes range. Kind of like Randy ended last year. They will rotate a lot of players. 10 deep at least.

What is this injury history you are talking about regarding Nene.

Re: Kevin Seraphin
what do guys think Seraphin Ceiling is?
We all know of his success in April (15.46666 ppg on 52% shooting, 71% FT, 7.26666 rb, 1.6666 blocks) I was wondering do you think he can become a all star? Obviously I doubt he can reach the level of Howard and Bynum but do you think he can be at the level below and still be in the mix for all star games?

You know, at his age, carrying that 250+ lbs. around on older, battle-scarred knees and ankles, over the course of the grueling 82-game season, there's bound to be a recurrence of testicular cancer. It's a very common basketball injury at his age anyway, and with his history...
I kid, but Nene's games missed: 2002-03 (2), 2003-04 (5), 2004-05 (27), 2005-06 (81), 2006-07 (18), 2007-08 (66), 2008-2011 (missed an average of seven games per year), 2011-12 (27). He was missing games before his big knee injury in '05, and after he came back from that, he was missing games before his cancer diagnosis in '08, and after recovering from that and having a relatively healthy three years, he missed close to half of last year. I'm not too worried about it, but I'm not going to pretend he's got Karl Malone-like health either.

Watched the first half. France ran several plays for Seraphin. PnR, post ups, drive & dish, however, he missed about 5 bunnies. Tough first half, although it's clear Seraphin is one of the primary options for the France team offensively.

I believe I read that Kevin wanted to workout with Hakeem over the summer. Does anyone have more information on this?

Re: Kevin Seraphin
I caught the beginning of the second half. My feed was fuzzy, but it looked like neither Parker nor Batum played and Spain just blew the doors off. Kevin had a couple of nice defensive possessions and miss forces when I was watching. He still looks tentative and a little lost defensively; Spain had a lot of weak side action going on and it seemed to really bother and confuse him. I think having Okafor here will be good for him.
I think he will have some nice moments in London. When he's on the court with Parker, Batum, and Diaw, he's going to get good opportunities. I am sick of Spain and I really hope France upsets them for the silver. They don't have Spain's depth, but I like guys like De Colo, Gelabale, Florent Pietrus, etc. Turiaf is awful; I will Noah were playing.

Silver? Spain will probably win the gold, they have the better team, been playing together for years and they have the best frontcourt in the world...

The injury history that matters is the plantar fasciitis he had at the end of last season. That can be a career ending issue.

Watching it now. Tuned in late in the third quarter. Kevin's turnaround hook is absolute money. He's looked pretty good so far.

He's been good, but rebounding is a major weakness for him despite his physical tools
