Talking about FIBA rankings, well d'uh, Lithuania is high, is that a secret? If Lithuania wins bronze, they come back to #4 (extra 75 points, meanwhile Greece failed to even make Olympic games), if Argentina fails miserably, maybe even #3 (Argentina loses 250 points by default this year).

But damn is Italy gonna fall... they have 272 points and they gonna lose 200 points! They should end up outside top 20.

It still kills me that in the U2 song they use, at the beginning has the lyrics "One, two, one, two, three, fourteen" in Spanish.

^ The video is just worth it for the Venezuelan girl next to the Lithuanian flag. Probably the hottest chick in the country

No wonder Jonas had a tough tournament. Also, why is LTU playing Iceland in friendlies? Should've found a somewhat tougher opponent.

Originally they wanted to play in a small Greek tournament during this time, but since Greece did not qualified for the olympics those plans died too. Also it is not easy to find any new opponents without any arrangements made at least few months ago.

LT u20 desperately losing to Italy right now. Thats Val impact for you, take him out, and worlds most dominant junior team is nothing more than Euro mediocrity.

Yep they qualified beating the Dominican Republic. Despite a lacklustre tournament for Valanciunas he came up huge when it mattered against Al Horford with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 block in 26 mins.

So guys, what you have to say about Jonas so far? Does he have potential to be something in the first season?

I'm going to relate this interview to Valanciunas. His LTU rival, Motiejunas, essentially says that the European game is tougher and more physical. Go to 1:28 to hear him talk about the physicality of basketball:

Joakim Noah actually said the same thing during Eurobasket 2011. Go to 1:33 where the reporter asks what's the difference between playing [in the Eurobasket] and the NBA.... Noah says that the Euro game is a lot more physical:

So Fiba-style basketball (the Olympics) should serve Valanciunas with more preparation for the NBA. Plus instead of playing against Soloman Alabi of the Nuggets, Val will be playing against the NBA Dreamer team bigs.

^^^ yeah Donut has got himself a stalker.

Good to hear him say it how it is, there was quite a lot of banging and hard fouls in the eyes of NBA fans, lots of bodies hitting the deck in yesterdays game but as you heard, compared to how young bigs are treated in europe it's nothing.

lol he played 30 minutes in a summer league game against power forwards, wait until a big body center with length makes him his daddy. He got post position due to summer league lack of communication and was able to finish a couple of six foot hook shots. I am not saying he is going to suck but hes never played a NBA game and making statements like this?

Why isn't Motiejunas playing for the Lithuanian national team? Not good enough?

He wanted assurance from the Lithuanian NT of playing time. They didn't oblige, that's why he's at Summer League with the Rockets

Lol, they aren't too bright. JV and Motiejunas is a matchup nightmare.
