I like him alot. He has shown good D instints and can def rebound and run the down the court. If he works on his O , the sky is the limit for him.

dlts20 wrote:I totallyy disagree with you. Those minutes suck. I think if you reach the level of supreme quality then you want atleast 34-38mpg. Definitely nothing lower. I think Nene & KS will want 34. That leaves 14 each and I dont think Book & Ves want 14 each. One guy would want the whole 28. I like 3 man rotations honestly. Also, you arent factoring in James Singelton who I really like & trust.
Nene will want 34 huh? Care to guess how many times in his career he averaged 34 minutes per game? Try 0. His career average is 29 minutes a game and he's averaged about that in each of his last two years. 30 minutes is exactly what he is used to.
And Kevin isn't good enough to play 34 minutes a game, not yet. When bigs play 34 minutes, they play some of those minutes tired. And a tired Kevin isn't as good as an energetic Vesely or Booker. Guess how many centers averaged 34 minutes a game last year: three; Howard, Bynum and Gasol - arguably the 3 best centers in the game. If Kevin even manages to play 30 minutes a game, that would put him even with Joakim Noah and ahead of Tim Duncan, Kendrick Perkins, Javale McGee, Roy Hibbert and Deandre Jordan.
30 minutes a game is fine for Nene and Seraphin. And Vesely isn't good enough to deserve 34-38 minutes either. One-dimensional players like that don't get 34+ minutes unless their name is Ben Wallace or Dikembe Mutombo. 20-25 minutes a game is plenty for Vesely unless he improves so much that he forces the coach to play him more. If that happens, then we'll talk about making more room for him on the roster. And as I said before, the way that'll happen will be for Booker to try and carve out more minutes at SF. Vesely will remain a PF.

Vesely worked out at home in the Czech Republic for 10 days with Wizards assistant coach Joe Connelly in the month before returning to Washington. Wittman said he saw the same confidence that Vesely displayed toward the end of his rookie season and expects Vesely not to hesitate taking 18-20 foot jump shots in Las Vegas.
"I worked a lot in the last month on that," Vesely said. "I work every day on the outside shot. I feel pretty good, and I will work a lot until the beginning of the season."

I hope he just let's them fly in SL, no-pressure there.

What a lame cheapskate organization! We couldn't even afford to fly our coaches around the world to coach our players!
Oh. Wait

Actually what a devious cheapskate organization, drafting players just so as to allow coaches paid vacation time in Prague, which is lovely this time of year.

Some blown dunks too, I'd rather he not sacrifice that facet of his game. Needs to be a bit more aggressive on the boards as well. His jumper though, does look solid. Could lead to a good face up game for him.

Vesely better beast out tonight against Houston. Pre-draft after doing my Youtube homework, I felt of the international big men who fit best skill wise as a Wizard, Donatas Motiejunas was that guy. I admit though, hearing his passion for the game questioned by almost everyone made me have second thoughts about him. He tore it up last night.
Vesely still hasn't done anything to justify his selection at six.

Yeah in a way I'm also looking for him to show why he was selected ahead of those guys.I Get the long term prospect thing and I appreciate his ball iq but I want to see some separation to show we made a really savvy pick. To show it was a good idea to get him vs a klay Thompson

I had no clue that Klay Thompson was regarded as highly as he was until he was selected at 11 by GSW, I had him with the 18th pick and Marcus Morris with the 6th.

Re: Jan Vesely
At this point it doesn't really matter to me as much if they look better then another pick. What matters is that they look better then they did last year and how they fit with the rest of the rebuild plan. We don't have the other pick. We have the players that are on the team we are rooting for so that is what I'm focused on.
Besides, you can't just compare player for player. You have to take the total rebuild strategy into account. They wanted an athletic smart big that would help them move on from Dray. Since they wanted to tank another year, that big could be a project with a lot of upside. If you want to compare players, at least pick from that category because take got them another top 3 pick. Agree with it or not, that was their strategy.

I wasn't surprised when he was picked there. I didn't have Marcus morris sixth. I'm not a fan of payers who can't play one position well due to size vs skill mismatch. Its a bust waiting to happen, see jimmer and the reason trob fell and is struggling offensively. Plus I think it takes a lot of valuable time converting the player.
Al the players I wanted were gone by the time we picked both this year and last. Wanted kanter but I may be wrong there and Leonard. This year wanted mkg and a trade up into lamb, Ross, wroten territory. Draft express and other sites had them going late so I saw them us underrated and good valuest projected slots. Turns out someone else agreed and drafted them early as well as was the case with klay last year when he seemed like a reach. I'll be interested to see how the perceived reaches waiters and Lillard do. As well as Austin rivers. Their value seems tied into their ability to score and pg potential. Seems similar to the Russell Westbrook scenario.

What if you wanted to do what they set out to do, but some player is available who might not fit into your plans but is a great player, what do you do? People say draft the best player available. On the case of beal, I do want to compare him to other young shooting guards because it translates and because I want to see whether the right decision was made in selecting him. In the case of vesely I'm still holding judgement but I'm looking at other players to assess what other opportunities we passed on for the opportunity to have wisely and whether it was worthwhile.

If the right player is selected in the first place there's less room and reason for these type of post-draft comparisons.

No one will know what was best for any given player until three years down the road. That are rebuilding. Its a long term plan. Ves was taken in a tank plan. That seems to be a good choice given the plan. Beal was taken under different conditions. Now they want a SG that is rounded, NBA ready and a long term keep. He was also a good pick.
No one will know how the plan is working out until earliest probably mid season. You may want to just enjoy being a fan of your team. This is not last year, the year before or the year before that.
This is actually a solid team that has a good chance to be good. Its not perfect but it is good and it has upside. I have waited a long time to have a front office and roster this good. I don't plan on wasting time thinking the worst. Things will play out the way they play out and I will hope for the best until evidence proves I shouldn't. But I won't do it before hand for no reason at all except to complain.

Re: Jan Vesely
for a #6 pic Veseley is a big dissapointment in my book. At #6 I woud expect to get a skilled player.
Veseley's upside I think is Serge Ebaka....but to me at the moment he has very little impact.
Fist he nowhere near the rim protector the Ebaka is or Mcgee was
Second hes not strong enough to get position and be a good rebounder.
He runs the floor and has good energy but thats about it for me.
Singleton I think has potential to be a good rotation guy. Good versatility and size but hell never be anything great. He was a good pick for his draft position but Veseley....cmon with Kawai Leonard on the board
