I dont see felton coming here just to be a back up....what other teams has he been talking to? If he signs here lin is a goner.

Felton lead us to just as many wins as Lin did, he also has a history of actually making the biggest question mark on our roster look good. We're not winning the division if Amar'e doesn't return to his 20+ PER self. With Felton, Amar'e was a 28 and 10 player.
Stop acting like we're comparing Westbrook to Anthony Roberson. We're comparing two borderline top 20 PGs.
People need to learn from the mistake Indiana made buying into the Collison hype. Felton has a huge sample size of being mediocre and a small sample of being really good here. Lin has no sample size and a small sample of being really good here. I know at worst if Felton is in shape he is an average PG in the league. YOu don't know that about Lin. And that is the dilemma.
With Kidd's advanced age, and Pablo's advanced age, it may be much safer to go with the proven mediocre player over the possible all-star possible 12th man.
The probability is highest that both are mediocre players. Unfortunately Andre Miller in his infinite wisdom decided to take pennies on the dollar to return to Denver. So we are stuck choosing between two huge mediocre question marks.

Talking about the business side of things...

If the Knicks are going to be over the cap regardless of whether or not Lin signs, the only reason that Dolan can offer to not matching Lin is because of emotions or greed.

Re: Fat Felton to the Knicks? Knicks not matching Lin?
You know, we were really f*cked last season going into things a little thin at the pg/sg postions. Tony as the starter, then waiting forever on Baron. It made us look a little unprepared. The Knicks are all in now so theres no time for that again.. The organization probably wants a lot of insurance.. Shump is gone till January and then some because it will take him long to get acclimated again and landry is gone.. They spent half the press conference the other day talking about how Kidd will mentor Lin. I think we'll match, we're probably just snatching up guards.
"We’ll find a way to either make him a very useful player in our organization, or whatever"

If we do bring Felton back with Lin I"d be pretty Meh about it. I was ready to roll with Pregioni and Kidd with whoever we could get to fill out our SG depth. Felton would be overkill...

Rockets found loophole that would cost them $8 million on third year of Lin offer sheet and Knicks $15 million, source tells Y! Sports.
How the heck do the Rockets only have Lin cost them $8 million, but the Knicks $15 million?
Rockets would only have to pay Lin $8 million in the third year, but they'd have to pay more the 1st and 2nd years. It's not a loophole at all, just a part of the CBA.

Source says Knicks not matching is part of larger strategy. Blocks Rockets from acquiring Dwight. Apparently Orlando's next is Dwight for Amare

Gilbert Arenas provision from the old CBA --
Cap hit for Knicks is the actual salary -- because Lin can only get paid MLE for first two (as a member of NYK), the "poison pill" is actually used as a deterrent because it makes the final year the 14+ million (that's how we get to 25).
However, if NYK does not match it (which, I think won't happen -- NYK will match), because Houston has cap space THIS year, they pay the average over 3 -- roughly 8 per.[

If this goes down, don't automatically blame Dolan, all indications is that this is a front office and coaching decision. If Woodson, Grunfeld, Houston, etc. think Lin will be an All-Star, Dolan would pay.

David Aldridge: But Rockets' chances of getting Lin certainly look better than they did yesterday. They think there's a chance Knicks won't match. now
David Aldridge: Have read the Tweets on the Knicks, Lin, Felton. What I know is as of 10 p.m, NY has NOT informed Lin they're not matching, per source. 1 minute ago
Tony Mejia: If Jeremy Lin leaves, it would be New York choosing to lose him to Houston market. Lin gets paid either way. 2. Hope Uncle Drew is ok. 2 minutes ago

Ian Begley @IanBegley
#Knicks say they still have not received the Jeremy Lin offer from Houston.
Alan Hahn @alanhahn
Worth considering: Felton/Lin PG tandem with Kidd spending time as two-guard at this stage of his career as we saw in Dallas so often.
let the speculation reign on

You really think Lin's going to a 12th man in this league? So Marion was just letting Lin blow past him because he likes the guy? And Philly was forced to foul Lin repeatedly while he was driving to the hoop because they're all nice dudes? Is Lin going to forget how to shoot and pass the ball?

Knicks close to sign and trade for Felton.
Knicks board melts down -- fear we won't re-sign Lin.
People try to convince themselves Felton is "good" LOL
In the end, Lin will be a KNick.
