Anyway, Felton is going to play great here, so having a quality starting PG, at his prime (28 years old) for 4.5m$/y, ir GREAt.

Steal?

Dude had zero offers until this BS.

i think that is other teams' mistakes. he had a bad season, but he has shown himself to be a good player in the past.

a lot of players had rough seasons last year. it was hard because of the lock-out. shooting was down throughout the league. look at amar'e and melo.

Conflicting info out there, but source insists Raymond Felton's deal with New York will pay him approximately $18 million over four years.

WTF. Is that possible with Gad & JJ's salaries

I don't think those numbers match up, unless they gave Jeffries some good money on his end of the S&T.

Thomas makes $1.35 mil
Felton makes $4.50 mil

Gadzuric makes $1.35 mil
Jeffries would have to get around $2.55 million per. Don't think that's happening.

Source close to Lin thinks Knicks still match. Keep in mind this: Even tho Felton is a PG he's a shooter too. Woody likes to mixup lineups.

I really think Kidd/Lin will be the backcourt and Felton/Prigioni will be the backup PGs with JR Smith as the 6th man from SG.

Lets wait until the decision on Lin is made official fellas.

If we match, we will have some sick lineups to throw at teams. WE can go Big, Small, Fast, penetrating, spot up, Iso, Post up (Even the Guards), Defensive specialists, Hackers.

That's how it appears to me. They are stockpiling to have depth at all positions to handle injuries. I don't see why this indicates not matching for Lin. They probably considered Felton the best form of insurance at PG among remaining free agents.

He certainly is not as impactful or diverse in skills as Lin and I cannot see how the organization would consider Felton a better choice with comparable upside. It only comes down to money, but on talent Felton is still better as a backup and probably will at times play the 2 guard next to whomever is running the point. Same can be said for Lin playing with the other PGs.

Even with this news, I would still be very surprised if Lin is not a Knick. There is not good reason not to match. We'd be a very stupid franchise if we don't and he reaches all-star status elsewhere (and fukoff trolls I don't need your idiotic replies that Felton is better).

This Felton news brings up the tweets about his unequivocal statements on the 4th of July to an ESPN blogger/stringer. Remember these tweets?

A lot of Knicks fans Zachary Horst was faking it all. But Felton told him on the 4th that was at Dolan's party because he's gonna be a Knick. It didn't sound like he felt he was anyone's "Plan B". It sounded like he had assurances. It was Felton himself doing the talking. Turns out he was right. It was ten days ago.

Today, Felton himself did some more talking to another reporter. He said -- unequivocably -- that the Lin deal was off.

Strange things were happening back at the beginning of the moratorium.
-- Felton thought the Knicks had made assurances to him (He now has a 3 yr contract.)
-- The Knicks were chasing yet another PG named Nash (got Kidd instead with another 3 yr contract)
-- What the Knicks weren't doing is making a move negotiate anything with Lin, leaving him to go find an offer to bring back to the Knicks.

Something just doesn't compute here -- and it's not some huge flap over an extra $5M some three seasons away.
.

**** Felton. I hope he gets stuck on the bench behind Prigs and gets demoted to the D-league.

I'm going to bed thinking we're still matching Lin and we further bolstered our bench. Not mad at all. Peace.

Both Felton and Kidd have played a lot of SG over the last few years. Felton could easily be the starting SG or back up both guard spots and Kidd could end up starting at SG.

If not I think it is kind of a stupid move. If Lin didn't even prove worthy of the deal the first 2 years you could cut him and spread the remaining money. Felton is a guy you never know what to expect.

that 18 million dollar number makes no sense.

i love the deal. this gives the knicks great depth at the 1 and even the 2. When Shump gets healthy, the team will have five legitimate playmakers in the backcourt (Lin, Shump, Felton, JR, Kidd). This was a big problem last year because it was difficult to create for our frontcourt.

Grunnie is making some great moves!

Now just match lin's deal and lets go to battle.

Haha. If Felton got 4.5m/ year, he's only paid less than Jeremy for 0.5m for the 1st 2 years. They are not thinking about money or luxury tax stuff here. Maybe, they honestly think Felton is equal to or better than Jeremy. Who knows.

Otherwise, say papa to Lin... and dont even cry for that if happens. It was his decision!!

How come this was HIS decision??? Knicks never provided him an offer, and they ASKED him to seek his market value, and the Rockets is the only one to make him an offer so he had to accept. How come it was his decision??? It was Knicks'. From the beginning to the end!

Acquiring depth is one thing, but where are the minutes going to be for these guys? When has Felton EVER wanted to be a backup? He ain't even really suitable to be a backup here anyway.

Id prefer Lin over Felton I think but the one good thing about Felton is we know what we are getting. Hes a decent starting PG. Not bad but nothing too spectacular. Lin on the other hand might be amazing, might be average, or might suck balls. We dont really know what we have with him but would be happy if we match his offer.

That cannot be understated considering what has happened this past season.
