Well it was a good thing provided the contracts for Lin and Novak were somewhat reasonable. Novak was overpaid slightly but that was always going to be the case. The poison pill makes it a bit harder for them to use that stroke of good luck however. I don't think they're intentionally trying to waste it though.

Then why let the market dictate what Lin was going to make and not Novak?

You're right, it was a bad move, but Dolan is not going to let Lin walk. Dolan has never been about winning, it's all about $$$ (that goes for a lot of owners/gm's). And Lin just entering a game at MSG would probably create more publicity and revenue than the entire Knicks franchise. So no, Lin is not going anywhere. But it's still a shame that they waited it out and now have to deal with a mother of a poison pill.

I don't think they planned to bring Lin back at all cost all along. Nash's obviously Plan A. The thought is probably if Lin's offer was cheap (i.e. below 24m/4 years), then bring him back as an understudy to Nash. More than that, they would let him go. I don't think they anticipated that high of a final offer Lin got.

Ewing had already made huge dollars... established his name in the league which would've guaranteed work somewhere else.. Lin didn't have those luxuries.

Ewing earned those Luxuries ...point is as a fan base we accepted Lin doing that for his career. If it was back in the day Isola is right. Lin would of got roasted and dont forget Starks was bagging groceries before playing on the Knicks. He would of came out and played at 85 % against the Bulls if he had to. I think we are both in agreement but did you catch that CAA comment about Chris paul?

How do you know we didn't? Unlike RFA, the public doesn't get the same price discovery that a team gets through negotiations with the player and his agent. We don't know what he was offered by other teams.

Lin made absolutely nothing last season. Dude freaking slept on Landry's couch. Ewing on the other hand was already well off at that point. Big difference.

Don't give Isola that kind of credit.

It's not about the money, it's about the fit, and the balance...

How anyone can even begin to type this out is beyond me... if it was about fit and balance Grunnie would be trying to deal Amar'e or Melo.

Yep, he should try to trade Amar'e

how quickly people forget. 85% meant "barely able to run up and down the court", not "a little sore", as lin clarified. he just wasn't used to how sensitive fans were about things like that, so made a dumb comment.

Lin isn't going anywhere if he is then I might not watch the NBA anymore. I'm more pissed at getting Felton than losing Lin but if we get both I'm fine with that.

When did the deal get done?

And in this day and age with twitter and thing you would have thought we would've heard something no?

I just don't think lin guarantees a championship any more than those players do...

and If i'm Dolan I don't want to spend three times the amount to gamble on it

Dude the point is the Knicks fan base has changed and were accepting of LIn doing that. Hate Isola all you want but he is right. Back in the day Lin would of been booed for not coming out and playing.

Yep. The Knicks fans did let him off the hook. Knicks fans care more about a dude lining his pocket than leading the Knicks. And this is coming form a big supporter of Lin. I'm starting to really dislike today's Knick fan.

I agree, like you said Lin got a pass, he was & probably is still considered the golden christian boy.

With that said looking back at it I understand completely why he sat out, at the same time I have no problem with anybody who actually did stick it to Lin when there was a slight chance he could've came back for the playoffs.

It makes you wonder though let's say if Lin leaves and goes to the Rockets does it make anybody look at him differently seeing how he could've came back & the whole drama with the Rockets/Knicks offer?
