The Nets get cj watson for one year for the minimum and we sign a worse option to a large multi year deal.

From what I could get from what he was saying, if they let Lin walk it is is because he doesn't fit into Woodson's system. Woodson wants to run iso's primarily with Melo and Lin doesn't fit into that. He definitely seemed to put it on Woodson and not Melo.

I guess Woodson wants to put his own stamp on this team and run all MDA guys out of town. Ironically they just replace a MDA type PG with another one.

I don't buy it. why bother saying they're going to match and that he'll start? and go out to dinner with him? Seems more likely that if they don't match, it's the revamped contract.

Maybe he said that purposely to get Houston to up their offer. Maybe Dolan was on board and it helps avoid him receiving the bulk of backlash from Knicks fans? Honestly, I don't believe a word these reporters say, but I believe everything coming from the mouth of Jeffries. It is telling that he indicated that this decision would have to do with Lin not fitting Woodson's system.

And give up picks and futures for the privilege. Knick GMs routinely make deals while bent over and spreading their cheeks...

CJ Watson is absolutely not a better option at PG than Felton.

Option 1: Felston = An average PG who will never be very good.

Option 2: Lin = A average PG who might become very good.

Which one would you rather have?

Lin got $25MM for 3 years... maybe teams weren't lining up for that deal, but of the pricetag was what Felton is going to get most of the league would have been interested.

If this is true, I think it is no coincidence that Woodson proclaimed Lin our starting point guard before the bigger offer came out. It was leaked, from the mouth of Woodson, on purpose IMO assuming this all goes down. They knew Houston would be forced to give Lin a better offer and they could use the whole luxury tax excuse to protect Woodson. It might be even possible that they told Lin they weren't going to match and had him go to Houston to ask for more money. More conspiracy theory, but pieces are started to come together now with this. Jeffries knows the Knicks locker room and him saying Lin isn't thought to meet Woodson's system speaks volumes.

If all this is true, the knicks just lost a lot of fans and money. Stupid stupid stupid but I hope Lin is back.

Lol at anybody who thinks Felton is better than Lin. Probably the same people that didn't like Lin in the first place. Think about it it's Raymond Felton......Raymond Felton people! Can someone give me an analysis comparing the two where Felton comes out on top?

Jefferies doesn't know anything... he is speculating like all the beat writers and people posting in this thread.

If Lin doesn't fit Woody's system, in what world does Fatty fit his system, when Fatty had his best season playing for MDA. Remember, Fatty didn't fit Larry Brown's system, and Woody is one of his protoges.

Any chance this turns into Chandler/Jlin to Houston, Original Houston Package to Orlando, Dwight Howard to the Knicks or some variation? Jlin hasn't signed, Dolan would love to stick it to the Nets, and Howard probably wouldn't have signed with Houston anyway.

Exactly. You think he knew he was being traded to Portland? I don't think so.

This is a S&T. He had to know because he signed that contract.

Yeah Felton is NOT the same player we had 2 years ago. He fell off hard. If we don't match Lin our team took a major step backwards. A Felton/Kidd point guard rotation will be one of the worst, if not the worst, in the league.

This whole situation just pisses me off if we don't match. I've been a Knicks fan for a very long time and the last decade watching them play caused more grief than good. I still supported the team though, buying tickets to a bunch of games when I was in New York and watching almost every game on MSG when I wasn't.

Then Linsanity happens and I'm having the most fun I've had watching this team play since our 1999 playoff run. The buzz and pure excitement around this team was a joy. It was the best. And even after Linsanity "ended" I was still left with a great young player to root for and give hope for the future. To think that Dolan might screw this up and replace him with this fat slob who doesn't even look like an NBA player anymore is despicable.

If Jason Kidd chose NY over Dallas (same money) in order to take up the challenge of mentoring Lin, how is he going to feel about backing up Fat Felton?

 you don't do reasoning very well, do you? you just got through yapping about Felton who no one was talking to, and ended up with a fraction of Lin's contract, if you're going to use that reasoning.

He doesn't know what is going on behind closed doors now, but he know what Woodson thinks of Lin. He was in that locker room with them. I'd trust his insight more than any of these writers.

I'll reserve judgement on this we find out what's happening with Lin...
