Especially with the sudden relevance of the Brooklyn Nets, you've got to keep Lin if you are Dolan. Lin alone will drive casual fans into the garden.

Giving Felton $10M over 3 years -- not a horrible contract.
But Lin is EASILY worth 3x that both on and off the court. I really think this is the end for the Knicks if they let him go:
A) They lose a giant share of their fan base overnight. And depress the others.
B) The only way to recover is getting a franchise player in the Draft and that may not ever happen in our lifetimes.
It would be end of the line.
In fact, if we don't hear anything today, I'd be very suspicious.
This thing has gotten so bad so quickly that I think Knicks need to make a statement today. They don't have to match today but they do have to make a press release.

Jared Zwerling: Source close to Lin thinks Knicks still match. Keep in mind this: Even tho Felton is a PG he's a shooter too. Woody likes to mixup lineups. Twitter
hope this is true

Dam dam damm linsanity still going stong in the offseason... If we match lin this team will be stacked up like we havent seen in yearsss. It already is pretty good we should all be happy we have a shot at a title signing lin or not. But those chances will increase with lin on the roster, im actually exited and cant wait till go to war. For the people thatthink kidd only came here to mentor lin stop itttt!! He came here cause we have a way better roster than dallas plain and simple

now, on to some good news:
InsideHoops.com @InsideHoops
Source tells InsideHoops the #Knicks still might match Rockets offer and keep Jeremy Lin
yes it is insidehoop but good news whatsoever.
This is not looking good at all. The Knicks are not exactly a franchise known for making wise decisions.

SAS on the Ian OConnor show right now, says Lin "definitely" won't be matched.

I wonder how many nails Morey's bitten off by now. Letting speculation run wild is the Knicks FO's best way of getting back at the Rockets.

Blaming the player on their way out, with the media's help. This reeks.

The other thing is that with Felton on the roster, it makes me nervous because I do question whether he will gravitate away from Lin. I don't trust that Woodson trusts Lin.
But I still think Lin comes back. Maybe it's just me but I would rather Lin than Paul.
KG, i think you got a virus man...change your password or something

25 games = 25 million. Not a chance.
Let's get away from all the glitz and glamour, this deal sucks

SAS thinks Fatty Chucker Felton doesn't look for his shot and is a better pure point.

Re: *Felton traded to the Knicks. Knicks not matching Lin?
So many conspiracy theories out there (involving Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, renegotiated contracts, marketing, poison pills, us screwing them, them screwing us, Woodson likes or hates this guy, Melo likes or hates that guy, etc etc etc)... but in this world, the simplest explanation is most likely the correct one I see two possibilities:
1) We match Lin. Because we have only one healthy SG on the roster (Smith) and because there are not quality SGs in our price range available, we have elected to use Felton as our 2nd SG. Felton has the strength to guard 2's and does have a scorer's mentality. Our bench, while talented, isn't exactly loaded with scorers so Felton fits there. With Smith going to play plenty at the 3 when Melo is at the 4, there are plenty of minutes to go around at the two guard spots with Lin AND Felton. When Shump comes back it gets crowded but we deal with it then. Grunwald said "we would look for cheaper alternative at SG" and the Felton move came just hours after we officially decided not to match Fields. Probably not a coincidence.
2) We don't match Lin. We prefer Lin over Felton but not by much, but management feels like the 3rd year and the tax ramifications aren't worth it and that Felton is a reasonable replacement. Simple.
To me, the two scenarios above are the ONLY two likely scenarios. To me, Scenario 1 still makes the most sense until I hear otherwise.
