Someone needs to tell Ian O'Connor it's not true then. He's going on a whole segway about Melo now. Lol. See that's the problem with new media. Big part of why we are where we are right now with this whole Lin crap...

To be fair though...and I said this before the Felton deal...while it's definitely within Lin's right to get as much as possible...it does leave a bad taste that the 1st offer would be announced and then replaced once it became clear that the Knicks would be ok with matching it. Absolutely no rule against it but still...just not a cool move. Now wether it was Morey's doing, Lin's doing or a combination of the two, I can definitely see why the Knicks (and Dolan) would be upset.

Dolan has always shown that he's extremely loyal to you if you show that you're extremely loyal to him but absolutely, absolutely, if you get on his bad side you're **** (pardon the language). That said, the odd thing is, Felton didn't exactly keep his bridges whole when he left and he said some disparaging things about the Knicks, so not sure why Dolan apparently forgave him for it.

SAS saying that he thinks Lin is a goner.

Said that Lin could have taken a 2yr deal to help the Knicks with the salary cap but went after the most guaranteed money instead. Said Lin didn't want to risk a 2yr deal because he doesn't have faith in his game....

NBPA fought hard during the lockout to win more rights for restricted free agents like Lin. Then fought to get his early-Bird rights.

T. Chandler surprised NYK not matching on Lin? "No. I mean I'm surprised about everything, but that's the way it's been the whole year."

carayip wrote:But we trade guys and waive guys all the time, no? Where is the organization towards players in those situation? Why shouldn't guys look out for themselves instead of being loyal to a particular club when that club is prepared to ship you out if given the right chance?

What did Jared's loyalty towards Knicks do for him? Got traded.

:-?

This situation is about Lin & James Dolan, this isn't about everybody else because then you could bring up how the NBA as a whole shows no loyalty to players.

Like I said before we allowed Lin to gauge interest from other teams so he can set his own free market value & then we would re-sign him. That would allow him to get more money which is obviously something he wanted judging the decisions he's made these past couple of months.

Hope so anyway.

I want audio before I'll believe he said that. Melo knows better than that.

And remember how a benign quote got twisted into 'I didn't play as hard for D'Antoni and I play for Woodson.'

Rod Boone ‏@rodboone
Yeah. I made it up. SMH. RT @Victhaney: If that's a true quote which I'm not sure it even is, Melo never liked even liked Lin to begin with.

Those are actual quotes folks. Lin is gone.

Wow, if Melo really said that, then that's messed up and I lost a lot of respect for him. Really petty and pathetic on his part.

Ditto. The one thing in Lin, that got me to start watching games is now gone because of the 3rd year of his contract or some asinine personal thing with Dolan and his offer.

I don't buy the contract excuse. We could always trade assets in that 3rd year to keep things down. Stat comes to mind, a huge expiring.
