This was just yesterday. Lets hang on and overreact to every silly quote though. http://hoopshype.com/blogs/aderoa/carmelo-anthony

That was his public statement. Melo hates playing with a PG who controls the ball (or a coach who plays to that philosophy) and that's the kind of PG Lin is.

Regrettably man, nobody here seems to want to hear any voice of reason....so you're fighting a losing battle. You're right, NOTHING has happened yet, but everybody is already acting as if it has. Now everybody is turning on Melo for the most asinine reasons. It's a mob mentality in here. Logic and common sense went out the window a day ago.

I can't wait to see when the KNICKS match Lin and the full story comes out and all this overreacting gets proven to be emotional bullS**t.

I think there are good reasons to doubt that Lin won't be a Knick. I was with you until I saw the Melo quote about getting Felton because nobody else was available. That says to me Felton was brought in because we NEEDED another PG, not because it's nice to have solid depth.

If the reports about Lin working as a double agent of sorts are true then his time here is over. One thing Dolan has zero tolerance with is any sort of insubordination. I can understand why Lin would secretely report back to Hou and tell them of the intent to match, but if it's true then it was really short-sided. Being here would not only give him a better shot at winning, but I also think there'd be less pressure him to do it all simply based on the talent around him. And the endorsement deals alone would have made up for the difference in Hou's original offer and the new one.

I am not the biggest fan but its not like we traded Melo or Tyson chandler her....Lin was a secondary piece. I thought he could be a good player but to dub him as the key to winning a championship is a gross exaggeration.

And stop looking at this like its the Knicks FO fault, Melo fault, or woodson fault...Lin choose this path if we didn't match.

Turn ur anger at him...he didn't have to raise that offer sheet. He didn't have to sign there. He clearly didn't want NY.

I say we match the offer sheet...hold him for half the year than trade him.

If that happened, there'd be a lot of joy around here. D'Antoni had it right. We should have gone after Deron Williams instead of Melo.

I want Lin back badly but lets not make this a Lin vs Felton thing

Kidd and Prigioni should have the goods to run the PG spot between the 2 of them

Let's not forget that all 3 PG's have won championships

Kidd-nba
Prigioni-Spain
Felton-NCAA

Agreed; if there was some kind of falling out, you match and stash him for a year. You DON'T just let him walk for nothing to spite him for signing that contract.

Come on guys, Melo wants Lin back as most of the Knicks players i am sure. Knicks management is to blame for this mess.

Melo also admanently insists he had nothing to do with D'Antoni's firing. Oh Melo, how you lie!

If we don't match Lin, I'm afraid it gets worst. The population of the Knicks board will decrease as some will overreact and "quit".

If there is anything to this logic, then Dolan may just fire Woodson tomorrow. He publicly said Lin will be the point guard next year.

Right?

People - take a deep breath and relax.

1 - Lin did nothing wrong. He got the most money he could which is what every basketball player does and what anyone of us would do.

2 - Melo did nothing wrong. He said that he would love to have Lin back and called his contract ridiculous.

3 - I would be a terrible decision not to re-sign Lin. He is the golden goose and can be traded later this season if need be. If he plays well he will generate more than enough revenue to make up for the "poison pill" payment in year three. If he improves we may even consider his contract a steal.

4 - Nothing has happened yet. I will be upset if we don't sign Lin but I'll wait for something to happen before jumping out a window.

5 - Knicks are in win now mode. There is no way anyone in the Knicks organization can believe Felton is the long-term answer to PG for the Knicks.

I'm also confused why you're verifying and posting that Melo quote as if it's some big revealing thing... Anyone and everyone knows that's a ridiculous contract offer for a guy who has played 25 games.. It's not even a knock on Lin so much as Houston and what they're doing.. 14 mill in one year is a lot of money for a guy who could turn out to be worth 4....

Do you expect Melo, not knowing whether Lin will be back or not, to go out and say 'Dolan needs to bring him back no matter what, it's just money man pay him w/e'' and then look like an idiot and put Dolan in a tough spot when the man who makes the financial decision and has to pay the tax money has a different view on it?
