After the way he stunk up the joint in Portland, I can't understanding any team giving up any asset to acquire Felton.

OK let me ask you honestly and without bias -- you don't think it's wrong for Melo to call a player who may still be on his team (we hope) a "ridiculous contract"? That's not being selfish and/or a bad teammate?

If the Knicks let Lin walk, I'll be disgusted. But I won't get too worked up about it until it happens. Maybe MSG stock tanks and the Knicks come to their senses and match a couple days later. Then we can hear all the PR spins on it after.

Re: Felton traded to Knicks; Not matching Lin? (part 2)
My mini rant...
This ish is crazy. I can't believe how we always end up one upping it every off season in the headline department. Why can't the team run with what we've got, and keep things on an even keel? Up until now, I applaud the moves Grunnie has made, and imagined we were going in the right direction.
Granted, nothing has been done yet, and I imagine we won't hear anything until Tuesday anyways. Whether it be by plan or default, there's really no reason to do otherwise.
I don't hate Jeremy for making moves and getting more loot. I don't. Every other star has that opportunity. Most take it, some don't. Those that don't have their motives as well. Can't fault them either way.
I don't hate the Knicks front office for doing what they have to do, but... I also feel like my fandom is coming to an end as well. I was heartbroken when Ewing was traded. Hated Spree was traded. Didn't really like it when we traded Kurt. Felt horrified when we traded all those guys for our horse. Don't like that we are losing Jefferies. I don't know... ish is going backwards. Maybe the FO knows more than I do in letting those guys walk. I just can't imagine following a team that does nothing but heart break, and does nothing to improve their state. It seems like the teams' only function is to remain relevant in the news, and do so so. For the longest we've been crap, and just when we are about to turn the page, it seems we close the door a little more. It's not completely shut, but we will make it harder to fit if we keep shutting it like this.
Might start reevaluating where my loyalties lay after Tuesday. Not just because of what may or may not happen with Lin, but because it is getting harder and harder to back a team that keeps shooting itself in it's foot.
20+ years. Been through some good... much more bad. The river's looking inviting.

Oh please... this is much bigger than Lin. This is about the Knicks always ditching youth and putting too much faith in overconfident chuckers like Felton.

he's still incredibly tradable
Teams would actually trade for him with a poison pill contract?
Even for me that's hard to believe. Which is why I was thinking if they could average out his contract instead of having a giant balloon payment that it would be easier to trade him if necessary.

LOL, I am not as big a Lin fan as you think. There is still a decent chance that he ends up being a Darren Collison type PG...just average. But I don't ultimately believe he will because of what's he shown here. I'd rather take my chances with him than go to war with Fat Felton. I'm actually a little shocked that so many fans don't think Felton is an even bigger risk than Lin considering he's been a malcontent/underachiever for the past couple of years, as well as his weight and conditioning issues.

Yeah he was awful. Even this Greek guy could turn out to be decent and then you're giving up too much.
Felton is really just a bad player. A dumb player. Can't shoot. Can defend a little, can drive a little. He's an adequate backup and that's it. You can get adequate backups elsewhere.
But I get the sense that Dolan is personally offended and Grunwald is just doing what he can to fill in the blanks -- patch a hole -- it's an emergency for Grunwald. Can't blame him.

Disclaimer: I like Lin and Melo.
People are arguing that Lin should have the same response Melo got when he chose to try to get more money. And this is true, double standards suck IMO. I'm not referring to those posters.
The "yay I just creamed my pants because Lin's gone this is the best day of my life!!111" is not indicative of fans upset about money issues or skill level or experience. It's actual hate for him as a person. What's up with that?

I would argue that Lin overachieved. I don't see him finishing at the same level he did and he takes such a beating i'm not sure he's going to consistantly healthy throughout his career.
As far as Felton goes, I think that "fatness" had a lot to do with the lockout. He didn't really know when or if the season was going to start so he couldn't really get into a consistent training regime. At least thats my educated guess

no thats being honest, it is a ridiculous contract we all know that
So should players who have teammates who are playing badly say, "He sucks right now. Just sucks"?
They are being honest.
So I ask you, honestly and with no emotion, is it being a good teammate to say the above about a teammate who is struggling?

He's been in the league for a long time... he should be smart enough to know you don't comment on another players contract. Sorry, that's just the status quo in professional sports.

My main concern with Felton is how Kidd is going to handle this. The DWI is a bad start. From his press conference it really sounded like he signed here so he can mentor Lin. I don't think he would be happy backing Felton up. We are going two "floor generals" that doesn't get along. Can't be good for team morale
