Here's what you are all failing to realize:
ONE: In a few years we'll have around 7-8 mil given to a bunch of 40 year olds.
TWO: We'll be giving around 40 mil to STAT and Carmelo.
THREE: We'd be giving 14 mil to Lin.
FOUR: It wil be time to retain Iman Shumpert and the rest of the supporting gang.
We make this signing and we aren't in salary hell.
We are in salary OBLIVION.

I am curious
Can the Knicks match the offer and then LIN and them rework it so he takes less money?

SAS suggesting that he may also be slimmer... I really don't think this is as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Felton never wanted to leave and will make the best out of this second chance.
Did we forget that Stat played his best ball w/ felton??
That's right. Stat played his best ball with Feton!
Yes but that was with D' Antoni's offense. Woodson is more of a half court type of coach and felton can't penetrate to the paint as well as Lin, which means Novak would be getting open looks for the 3. Now Novak would be useless with a big contract.

If only it were as simple as that.. No different than shooting hoops in the back yard... But that's not the case... Not even from a basketball standpoint is that true, because he'd be overblown or undersold here greater than he would be playing the same way elsewhere.. Unless he becomes Tim Tebow.
But they weren't talking about on the court play. They're talking about the stage, coverage, sponsorships sales etc that MSG brings that Houston simply won't. And that's true.

No. Houston screwed this one up. It's not Lin paying the Houston. Kid is getting paid crazy. Would you turn down a job that pays you 10 times as much when your current company didn't even give you an offer yet?
I think the only thing that everyone can agree on is that Houston ridiculously overpaid the kid but it's not Lin's fault to sign the offer sheet.
Of course, but reality doesn't go well on this board. What was Lin supposed to do? Refuse the ONE official offer that was given to him by ONE team? He wouldn't have a team then.

25 million for 25 unproven games?[/quote]
25 mill for a kid with glorious potential, with the ability to win games on his own, and show amazing characteristics on and off the court?
Phuck yea thats well worth it

OMG.. this team looks so old. We may make the playoffs but I don't see us getting any where, it is just gonna get more and more difficult with time as players get even older..

Really he's being killed more now than when it happen... because of the way this whole contract negotiation has gone down in the last 24 hours. I understand he deserves a pay day, but to go along with this grand scheme Morey has concocted doesn't sit well with me, on top of the other stuff he's done like pulling out of the Select team because people were putting twetty birds in his ear
Like I said if you hear what you want to hear and see what you want to see, that's exactly what will happen. If you want to make the argument that he's not being criticized enough, you're gonna ignore all criticisms.
And there was no scheme. Like I said, he wasn't offered a contract prior and he was told to go (along with Fields) and seek out his market value. And that's exactly what he did. The Knicks can determine whether or not it's worth it and if they do decide he isn't, they have the right to let him go and that'd be fine. But now the media (likely paid off by Dolan) is spinning it to make Lin look like the bad guy.

8/8/8 is fine
you see but it is not 8/8/8 in the set up of the NBA it is 5/5/14 so lets not average things out here so it is more in line of 10/10/29 million with the tax now is lin worth that much? You would have to be a moron to pay Lin that much or let him cost you that much, you have to be an idiot based on 25 games to pay him 14 million in yr

Re: Felton traded to Knicks; Not matching Lin? (part 2)
I'm at about 75% ok with letting him go.... i went to 4 of the games at msg when when "linsanity" was happening and it was really exciting... the kid can play there is no doubt about it but so can felton when hes motivated... felton was happy and really enjoyed playing in ny... he was in contention of making the all star team here... hes had a bad couple of seasons but i think coming back to ny will bring him back to life. Felton, to my understanding, is more of passing point guard who suits our team better with amare, melo, and chandler.
Linn really woke ny up last season and may have been one of the reasons we made it to the playoffs.... im not gonna say i wouldnt miss him but i wont lose sleep over it and i wont sign a petition to keep him here
