Favorite player but I dont have my head up his ass and backs up everything he does. I have nothing against Lin but you and others on this board are making it impossible to support him.

I think we will.

I'm 50/50 :dontknow:

I hope we do, even though that contract is beyond bad.

How about the same Lin playing 45 minutes a night while two max stars were out and subsequently saved our season? The 8-15 mark could've easily turned into 8-22 had Linsanity not happened.

Don't act like he begged and begged. Coach D said stand up. We're losing and we'll try anything.

It was pure dumb luck.

OMG.. this team looks so old. We may make the playoffs but I don't see us getting any where, it is just gonna get more and more difficult with time as players get even older..

Yea its so old... I mean all the starters are 29 or younger...

Houston ain't New York. No one will care if he goes through a few weeks of great stats, or where that team goes like they would the Knicks.. And I doubt the off the court stuff is as nearly lucrative as what NY brings.

It don't matter... they already have the asian market cornered. He misses nothing if he plays in Houston... maybe the fans. Same court.. same game.

You think because they have an "asian market cornered" that it will be equivalent to playing in New York and the stage that brings? Not a chance.

Unless he comes out of the gates blasting and causes media to watch him due to the Rockets getting off to a great start, it won't be what it would have been here.. They'll follow him a little, highlight him when they show the rockets, but unless theyrre extraordinarily good it won't be covered like it would have been had mr LINsanity attempted to right the Knick ship... He'll slowly fade if a big bang isn't sparked.[/quote]
and you think playing in New York offsets the possible 1.2 billion fans( especially now Yaos retired) and its market?

The first endorsement Lin signed is Volvo which is owned by geely, a Chinese company.

I think he's gone. I thought the PR backlash would change their mind. But looking at all the people on this board who seem to be ACTIVELY ROOTING for us not to match Lin, it's occurred to me that our fan base is too dumb to appreciate Lin. NY fans are all about the fake hustle chuckers like Felton and Crawford cause it goes with NY's identity as street ball capital of the world.

This. He doesn't deserve this nonsense. Hopefully Houston has more appreciative fans. This team deserves eddy curry and Toney Douglas.

Hahn: teammates looked at Lin with a crooked eye last year because of his over-confidence, perceived lack of humility.

o please.. show us a quote where Lin talks about himself after a win. It's always about the team, team defense, team effort when interviewed; he never once took credit for himself. But of course we all know who's all about himself on this team, ME, ME, MEEEEE-lo.

You would have to be a moron to pay Lin that much or let him cost you that much, you have to be an idiot based on 25 games to pay him 14 million in yr

The fact that the Knicks will have to pay out luxury tax is not all on Lin. If it wasn't for Melo/Amare/Chandler's contract, the Knicks wouldn't have to pay luxury tax. And the Knicks will have to pay SOMEBODY to support those three anyways. If its not Lin, I ask you who else? Are the Knicks going with all 2 million dollar scrubs for the rest of the roster spots?

He's a fan favorite..quit acting like he's not.

 Did I say he wash't? I love the kid, I LVOED the story, I have season tickets and my 2 year old son and I wore matching Lin shirts to the games we attended.

But it's become very entertaining to see the laughable extremes people are going to in this thread in Lin's defense, in an effort to deify him and paint him as teflon level perfection.

It actually reminds me a lot of the way Penn State fans were defending JoePa prior to the Freeh report, like members of a cult.

We never planned on matching Lin. Face it.

The Knicks had that fat fck Felton shoving hot dogs down his face since the fourth of July. He was telling people he was on his way to the Knicks, too. We made promises.

We never even brought Jeremy to the negotiating table. People made excuses: let him set his value, why even waste our time when he's getting more, etc. Even then, we shouted at the roof-tops, leaked like the exxon valdez that we'll match anything. Truly begging to be poison pilled, and then when he signs the contract we knew he was going to get, we smear the kid. Have our players GO ON SPORTSCENTER and feed us propaganda: calling it a ridiculous contract (why the hell are they even talking about this?!?!).

Make no mistake this was orchestrated. They're trying to spin a narrative that villaniazes Lin-- he took the money, what can we do (hey, you idiots, maybe actually make him an offer, let the kid know you WON'T match ANYTHING, THEN maybe he would've signed with you because hey he loves it in NY). But when you lie to the kid, the media, and then pull the rug out from under him-- it reaks. It reaks. The whole thing REAKS.

The lone kid getting paid 500k a last year, and Dolan pimped the living hell outta this kid, soaked and squeezed him for everything. Stock prices, ticket prices, web hits, jersey sales, and rating all up up up up up on the back of a kid who saw none of the profit. Dolan probably made NINE figures off Lin related, and now we can't overpay the kid 5-7 for ONE YEAR. Are you fckin kidding me!?!? All so we can be general'd by Raymond fckin Felton-- a journeyman with the talent of a back-up pg. INSANITY.

QFT!!!

No one is placing blame on Lin!! He followed the money, and that was his choice. I don't care what Melo or Chandler said, it's irrelevant and everyone trying to make an issue out of it is simply trying to stir up drama and directing their anger at the wrong people.

How about praising Camby and Jr. Smith who no doubt wanted to be knicks and gave up other opportunities!! Fact is, Lin could have signed for less money and made that back and more in endorsements. NY gave him a chance when everyone else said he wasn't good enough, couldn't dribble, run an offense and etc! Show some loyalty. If Melo, Tyson, Stat .. hell even Jr. Smith that didn't play at 85% Ya'll hypocrites will be up n arms.

This is no one faults but Lin and Houston's.

People seem to forget Lin was cut TWICE before he ended up with us. Then Mike let him do whatever with STAT & Melo out. Now he's going back to the team that cut him and allowed him to come to the Knicks in the first place? LOL this board is real funny.
