I dont understand how some posters are ok with this, and still have a great outlook on next season. Crushing the East? Really? How so? What are we doing that improves our position from last year? How many games did we win against the heat in the playoffs again?
Look, Im all for being the half glass full guy, and look towards the positives, but...
We can't overlook at the age of the players we've obtained this offseason. Add onto that the players we've lost to injuries from last season. Then you look at the rest of the changes....
I think we've attained some wisdom, which is great, but we won't have the legs to run this team if we dont tread carefully. I like Lin. I like what he did for us last season, and I rooted hard as hell for him last season... but I'd be ok if we lose him.... the smart way. We don't just let him walk. we cant.
It just doesnt' make sense. With as much percieved value he has, all dolan needs do is tell woody we're matching, but you're not playing him. Doesn't change how fans percieve dolan. We'll all still hate him, but at least he wouldn't be injuring Lin's trade value. At this point, all we can do is add minimums every offseason with the roster constructed as it is. Having a Lin trade chip can only help us attain someone else that makes that much money the next couple of seasons.
Am I wrong? Is this out of the realm of possibility? I mean seriously... I don't care where your allegiance lays pro lin or not.... what would be the negatives of keeping him with the intent of trading him post mid december if mgmt is unhappy with him?
