From a psychological standpoint that might not be that bad of an idea. However, I find it hard to believe that James Dolan thinks that deeply into anything he does.

Context of the word "ridiculous" varies a lot.

The Knicks had that fat fck Felton shoving hot dogs down his face since the fourth of July. He was telling people he was on his way to the Knicks, too. We made promises.

We never even brought Jeremy to the negotiating table. People made excuses: let him set his value, why even waste our time when he's getting more, etc. Even then, we shouted at the roof-tops, leaked like the exxon valdez that we'll match anything. Truly begging to be poison pilled, and then when he signs the contract we knew he was going to get, we smear the kid. Have our players GO ON SPORTSCENTER and feed us propaganda: calling it a ridiculous contract (why the hell are they even talking about this?!?!).

Make no mistake this was orchestrated. They're trying to spin a narrative that villaniazes Lin-- he took the money, what can we do (hey, you idiots, maybe actually make him an offer, let the kid know you WON'T match ANYTHING, THEN maybe he would've signed with you because hey he loves it in NY). But when you lie to the kid, the media, and then pull the rug out from under him-- it reaks. It reaks. The whole thing REAKS.

The lone kid getting paid 500k a last year, and Dolan pimped the living hell outta this kid, soaked and squeezed him for everything. Stock prices, ticket prices, web hits, jersey sales, and rating all up up up up up on the back of a kid who saw none of the profit. Dolan probably made NINE figures off Lin related, and now we can't overpay the kid 5-7 for ONE YEAR. Are you fckin kidding me!?!? All so we can be general'd by Raymond fckin Felton-- a journeyman with the talent of a back-up pg. INSANITY.

Felton played just as great as Lin did and was a borderline all star PG a year ago with the Knicks before he was traded.

First, he didn't. Lin was twice the player Felton was during his starts. Also, Felton had one good month in a Knick uniform, the others fluctuated between average (and even average is an aberration to his career performance) to garbage. He also did that with a PG'S DREAM of a lineup-- Stat at his BEST, three athletic slashers that could hit the three at a high clip to spread the floor, and playing in a D's offense. Even with that, guy was pedestrian for the majority of his time here (he did have his moments before turning into dudu). While Lin played like a motherfckin SUPERSTAR, racking up the stats and the wins with a lineup of Jared Jeff, Billy f'n Walker, Landry without a Jumper (felton had Landry when he could shoot--my what a different player), and Tyson.

Am I crazy? Were only a few of us spectators to Linsanity? Did most people not watch this kid DOMINATE? Even after 'Linsanity' kid was showing all the tools needed to be a top tier PG in the league.

Felton, at 28, has all the tools of a bottom tier PG, and subsequently, has been a bottom tier PG his entire career.

WTF is going on.

I personally think Shumpert is just as deserving for a 15 mil year 3 contract. I agree he shouldn't be given one. I'd like to see Lin and Shumpert pay their dues a little bit more.

Well the reality is that the market pays players partially based on potential. So if your mindset is that guys should only be paid based on what they've PROVED, you're going to find yourself with nothing but old, declining players.

All of Layden and Isaiah's bad moves were based on prioritizing past performance over potential. Every single damn one, and look where that got us.

I for one am hoping that he is matched, but im less than 50% confident atm

are they paying the same amount of tax with or without Lin ?

If the Knicks ever want to field a good supporting cast around Melo/Amare/Chandler, then yes.

idk what that means. do they pay more taxes having Lin under contract, or do they pay the same because they are already over ?

Weren't we doing that last week when we signed Kidd and Camby? Made people were complaining about future assets and all I heard was "we are trying to win now" and "we don't have time to develop players". News flash: Jermey Lin needs to be developed.

Also this thing about it only being 8mil/yr is false. From what I understand if we match it will look like 5/5/15mil/yr for us. Lin is not worth 15 mil in that last year. Period!

I will say this though about your last sentence, do I believe we will match Lin? Yes, I truly think so even with all the crap going on.

Should we match him? I'm not sure anymore.

the total money shelled out will even out to be 8/mil a year on average, though, which is the point. he could very well be worth that; a borderline all-star pg certainly would, and i'd say there's at least a 30-40% chance of that kind of upside.

Shumpert is NOT our best young player and I love Shumpert. Lin is. Clearly.

I think you are wrong there...shumpert has all defensive team potential. I have more faith that shumpert will be a really good player, the journey is still out on Lin

The most sickening part of all of this is that the Knicks have absolutely no chance at a ring the next three years. If Lin had been as good as he was last year, then they could have made a run. But with this core? Tough to see them even being a Top 4 seed.

Hahn doing a 180 on Lin now. Looks like the word from the top has already come down. The end game has begun.

Doubtful. It's over fellas. This is what Dolan does when he wants you gone. The writing's on the wall with this one. I was undecided at first, but when the waves of negative Jeremy Lin press came out in combination with Hahn trying to spin everything (he's an MSG employee btw), it's pretty clear. Just look back at the D'Antoni firing and recall (or re-read) the waves of negative press the night before his "resignation" was announced. It's almost identical.

I bet if Knicks let Lin go, Lin will be even more driven to prove the Knicks wrong. This is a kid who has been under appreciated all of his life and now it's happening again. Those 25 games were a fluke...you still haven't proven yourself... no way you are worth that money... we are not taking that risk with you...

He is being disrespected again. Bet you he will prove the naysayers wrong. Just watch.

Regardless of the Lin situation, the Knicks improved.

I don't think the comparison is that clear cut. the distinction between the second comparison is minute, and you left out lin in the first comparison. dont know if that was by design.

I have yet to see a single person explain how Felton > Lin + Felton. The only argument seems to be that people all of the sudden have developed some kind of moral outrage at players being paid more than their worth.
