I firmly believe that we're matching Lin's offer.

We're just trolling Morey in the process.

I always think to myself that there is no way this board could get any stupider and I am always proven wrong. This is not a blanket generalization FYI some people do how some thoughtful useful things to say but a few rotten apples can really spoil the bunch

I'm really starting to wonder if the Knicks weren't planning on bringing Jeremy Lin from the beginning. If they really wanted Lin to "prove his loyalty" to Dolan's wallet then they'd have given him a starting offer before this entire fiasco -- the Bulls did the same for Asik, why not Lin? Something just doesn't seem right here.

He initially agreed to a deal that the Knicks felt they could match; this deal encouraged the Knicks to make certain roster moves. Then Jeremy Lin consents to renegotiate contract terms and agrees to a deal which would allow Houston to pay him 8-8-8mil over three years while the Knicks would have to pay 5-5-15mil over three years: A poison pill for the Knicks that would obviously deter them from matching.

exactly!

some of you people....get mad a Lin he is the one that brought this on the Knicks. Getting on Melo??? GTFO

We should be killing Lin for screwing the Knicks

i find it hard to believe that the knicks FO did not foresee the poison pill third year with lin's contract. To me, they never wanted to sign lin from the get go.

No, I'm not kidding. I'm not as high on Melo like most people are. I don't think the Knicks should have ever traded for Melo. I thought they were better off keeping Gallo, Chandler, and everyone else in the trade.

Lin may leave just because the Knicks FO bends over for Melo. Melo is in charge of this team.

If you honestly believe that then you have some issues man

Well clearly he wasn't being completely honest.

Or he could, you know, actually believe that he will be. There's that option, too .[/quote]
I'm sure Woodson and the front office are on the same page. I don't think Woodson would really think Lin's coming back if the front office was willing to let him walk.

They knew Lin could get more on the open market and told him they'd match any offer. It made more sense for LIn to go and get an offer sheet...Knicks couldn't offer more than what he could receive from another team.

I'm still disgusted by this. I know some are still hoping that we're just accumulating assets and plan to match Lin, but it just doesn't make sense to have Lin, Felton, AND Kidd all on the team. This move reeks of our organization deciding to "move on" from Linsanity, possibly because Dolan felt slighted by Lin and his agent going back to Houston for a bigger deal. Emotions getting involved do not make for good basketball decisions, but we know Dolan has let his emotions cloud his judgment in the past.

Letting Lin go is a terrible move, and people who actually think Felton is a better fit either don't have a good eye for basketball, or didn't actually watch Felton and Lin during their respective time as a Knick. And Felton actually got WORSE (and fatter) since his short stint as a Knick.
