the point is, it was shady dealing. If the rockets planned to "report" a smaller deal. And then when Lin went to sign it they just happened to make the deal more poisonous?

that would just be ignorant to think the Rockets and Lin didn't have this on the down low.

What's ignorant is to believe that the KNicks front office counted on the specifics of an offer sheet that was not signed and delivered to them.

I have reasonable faith in Grunwald, but if he started spending on the assumption what he read in the press was somehow binding, then he's a buffoon.

The idea that ANYONE, Houston, Lin or the Knicks, were obligated to present ANY terms other than the ones appearing on the ACTUAL offer sheet, are just trying too hard.

The reason why the original leaked terms were regarded as "too good to be true" should be apparent.

If the Knicks bought into it, they deserve what's coming.

I don't think they did. I think irrational fans are upset the unofficial offer too good to be true, made publicly known in an unofficial matter, didn't match the ACTUAL offer sheet have purposely turned their brains off.

Geez, mpharris. You really blame Lin more than you do Morey? Did Lin have naked pics of Morey that he used as leverage to get a higher offer? Don't tell me you're actually buying this tabloid bull****.

Of course I am more pissed a morey...he has been screwing around with the knicks for years.

But also its just shady business either way. The Knicks might have been operating under the assumption that this was the deal Lin was going to get. 3 years with a 4th year option. Remember we all were saying that it was almost to good to be true??? 4th year team option and not a bad 3rd year salary.

All along it was probably a ploy by Morey and Lin that they would cancel the original offer after the knicks made all there moves and give him more so they he could sign with Houston. I keep getting the feeling Lin didn't want to play here.

Blame Morey if you want, but don't blame a player for getting what he can get, especially for his FIRST big contract.

No contract was signed so, nothing was 'cancelled'. Knicks told EVERYBODY they would match, so Lin didn't need to do anything. Houston upped the offer, was Lin suppose to say 'no'?

I am not blaming Lin for getting what he can get but he had to understand if he wanted to play for the knicks he couldn't sign a deal that would prevent them from matching.

Lin got what he wanted during the free agency...he wanted the most money and didn't care where he played.

He is pretty much on the same level as Bynum in my eyes..."there is a bank in every city" by his actions..which is fine get your money, but knicks fan shouldn't be happy about it.
