ok lets clear this up right now...the money is not the issue if the knicks dont match.

the clearly feel d*ck over by morey and lin that they changed the deal to make it worse for the knicks to match. Dolan and Knicks FO feels slighted like they were dooped.

why would Lin screw us over? what did we do to him besides make him millions?

He did dick us over. Our FO was happy when they saw the original Lin deal (3-year $19M) and some overeager dude in the FO probably told him they'd happily match. Lin took that info to the Rockets and got more money..

Us not signing Lin is more about the power play he tried to pull instead of the money. In reality, it's really not that bad a deal. After two years, a $10M expiring is an asset in the NBA. It's the fact he dicked us over. Just look what happened when the Rockets tried to send a courier to us. We flat out wouldn't even take the contract.

is it possible lins market revenue has been overstated and ny's #s dont think its high enough to offset the lux tax pmts?
If they don't think he's starter material, yes. And all signs point to that being the case.
But Woodson has gone on record saying that Lin will indeed start if returning and that he wouldn't be penalized for injury.
Every time you post, I see Lin hitting the shot in your avatar, and I immediately become depressed. :(

Your looking at over 30million dollars in year 3 for LIN with taxes included. Rumors have as high as 40. He is not CP3, he is not worth that kinda money.

Not a penny of that tax is going to lin, so why is it 30 million in year 3 for Lin?

There paying around 2 dollars per dollar on that third year 15 million. So 30 million IS because of Lin.

It shouldn't pop into his mind, its not his problem. If the Knicks said they would match any offer, then why should that pop into his mind? Is he getting any of that tax dollars?

The knicks never said they would match any offer. They wouldnt have given him a horrible deal though. It should be his problem if he WANTS to be a Knick.

Did you use this same line of thinking when Melo helped the Nuggets fleece The Knicks by threatening to go to the Nets?

Jesus. Mike Woodson came out in the press and said the Knicks would "absolutely" match the offer. It was a top story on every sports media outlet. Lin didn't need to tell the Rockets the Knicks were going to match; the Knicks made that very clear. That came back to bite them in the ass because it led to Morey increasing the poison pill.

I'll bet you they will. People are still very much intriqued by his story and will root for him ever more if this happens. Mark my words. The Knicks will be seen as villains and will be even more hated than they are now.

Sense Lin started playing heavy minutes we only won 6 meaningful games vs teams over 500: LAL, Phi, IND (2), Atl, and Dal, but on that same note we lost 7 games vs teams above 500: Dal, Chi, Mia, SAS, Mil, Phi, and Bos in-which teams like MIa exposed his inability to go left.

Now dont get me wrong I like Lin and I would like him back, but not at that price. He avg. 14.6 ppg, 6.2 apg, 3.2 TO, and 1.6 St. Raymond Felton avgs: 13.4 ppg, 6.7 Apg, 2.6 TO, and 1.4 St. I'll Take Felton any day at the price we're getting him and I;m sorry niether of these are Allstar numbers! Felton found ways to make Stat play to the best of his ability and made both Galo and W. Chandler look good. Lin only made Chandler and Novac look good.

Thank you for bring in stats to prove your statement, first post i can read in a while that has a meaning to it

I'm a stat man unless it's for a player that comes in just for the purpose of beating down the opponents star player stats mean everything. I love Lin and all and what he did for our team but to me a lot of decent players could do the same when you have a loaded roster and nobody has to key on you. To me Lin is the perfect backup/game changer on a good team. Going to Houston is going to break him and expose him but he they don't have anyone that can take over a game on any given night.

The luxury tax payments will not be Lin's doing, but management's.

Houston is doing nothing but what is allowed by the Arenas rule.

The whole point of any restricted free agent deal is to make it so the deal doesn't match.

Its amazing this fundamental point is so misunderstood.
