Every Knicks fan knows our team is cursed and is run by an idiot owner. If you've been a Knick fan throughout the Layden and Isiah Eras, I would think now would be "easier" though, considering we've made the playoffs 2 years in a row and actually won a playoff game for the first time in a decade plus. Best of luck to Lin and especially the Knicks going forward!

its time to move on fans will never let Lin live down 30 million hit in his 3rd year....

Funny how Grunny looked pissed at the reporters when they asked about Lin
during the Kidd Camby presser. Maybe they tired of the BS

I believe the Knicks will match, they added chub rock for insurance and they don't
Want to look like desperate housewives by matching in the first five minutes.

We got the contract in hand let everyone sweat over the weekend.

Unfortunately this unleashes the media crap that tries to stir up the fans for ratings,
by blaming Lin, Houston , Melo, global warming and the homeless cats living under the garden.

It's all spec and innuendo.
Untill we hear from grunny or dole out...

No reason to ruffle ya feathers flip wigs, teams, sigs or boards.

It's a dumb contract to offer Lin, he's definitely not worth the 14mil on the last year of the contract.

Having Ray Felton and Jason Kidd makes Lin expendable, IMO.

This

What you guys fail to understand is that as Fans the management has a responsibility to their customers .

This move doesn't make us better, our owner is rich and has paid way more for much lesson the past.

Lin got paid 700K last Samson but probably generated 700Milliom dollars

He was given to us for nothing and to lose his for nothing is irresponsible and unforgivable

Exactly!

Furthermore, as it stands if u totaled up the full contract and potential tax implications if we match Lin. What is it about 65-75 million total. How much has Lin made for the Knicks alone-thus far? 50,100 net million? How much do you think the total will be three years from now? Do the freaking math people who don't want to match. Compound that with his play last year. The only thing Lin hasn't proven is what he will be over 3 years. And this organization at worst cant lose money banking on Lin. His start was historical! If you can believe in other players that can very well digress-you better spend my fan money on players who show me some thing special!

Sorry but there's no excuses not to match Lin for an organization with this history....

it is very tempting to say YES, but i know that it will be NO.

what it will certainly affect is the level of support of the team. I was considering getting season tickets and i certainly would not do that for a team of octuagenarians plus melo.
I can only imagine the ball movement.
I also doubt that i will go to as many games as I planned, or as i did last year. which sucks because i was grooming my team to be hardcore knicks fans.
I know they will be devastated if this goes trough, which is another reason this pissses me off.

it is immensely annoying what management is doing and has done in the last few years. Basically almost everyone I know who is a fan, has been a fan notwithstanding the moves they have done, not because of the moves thy have done 9and yes, this includes the melo trade).

not to mention that if they don't match i am afraid this might go down as one of the worst off-seasons moves ever in the history of the NBA (certainly from a business perspective), and it will make, again, the knick a laughing stock for the rest of the league.

in any case people, even those who have answered yes to the poll, will still support the team, because when you are a fan you are kind of stuck with your team.
but the enthusiasm is going much less. there is just not many on the current team we are excited to root for.

Out of curiosity lets say knicks don't match lin. Then he goes and sucks it up huge for the rockets are you guys still going to keep crying omg how did we not pay 40 million dollars of luxury tax for him. The facts are dude didn't even last half a season before he got hurt. Then wouldn't even try to play vs the heat in the playoffs being at 85% health. How healthy do you think wade was on his left knee? Yet some of you want the knicks to throw that kind of finical money at him.

Wow, the poll is currently 43-57% yes-no.

I knew we had our share of fairweather fans on this forum, but I didn't know it was that bad.

The 43% can GTFO. If we can suffer through the Isiah period, we can suffer through a season when we have a top-tier scorer, DPOY and a deep bench, Lin or no Lin.

Also, why freak out before Tuesday. No-one, probably not even the Knicks top brass, know if we're going to match yet. They're probably running the numbers and strongly considering the basketball aspects over the next 2 days before coming to a decision. I know Dolan is a jerk, but I really do think they're going to make the right call here - whatever that is.

If I lived in NY or anywhere around NY, I would definitely switch to Brooklyn if the Knicks don't match Lin. Lin is the only reason why I prefer the Knicks over the Nets.

You're not even a Knick fan in the first place. You're a Lin fan. There will be highlight vids for him after all his games, no matter if we win or lose. Go watch them and leave the Knick talk to the Knick fans.

This thread kind of reminds me of Finheaven each time something doesn't go a certain way some fans will say they're going to convert to Bills/Patriots/Jets' fans.

Pretty sure you guys had great chemistry without Lin and if Shumpert, Tyson, Melo, and Amare don't think you need him and all the attention he brings (which is sort of distracting, kind of like having Tebow on your team), then so be it. That core did have a great month in April without Lin and then had to deal with some injuries, like the Shumpert one.

I don't even think Lin fits you guys. Jason Kidd fits, because he distributes the ball, though he'd fit much nicer if this was 5 years ago. But Lin is a scorer that attacks the basket, he's not that great of a distributor. He needs the ball and he needs to attack each time to be effective. Your team is better when you're feeding Carmelo/Amare/Tyson. Your team is also much better when Carmelo is the starting 4 but I won't go there since this is about Lin.

Lin's got questionable ball handling skills such as - he stops his dribble early and often, he turns the ball over a lot, he doesn't seem like he can dribble with both hands.

Coach didnt want him. Let's all move on.

IMO, you cant hamstring Woodson by forcing him to start a player he doesnt prefer.

Lin had to go.
