Honestly, in regards to the free agents not mentioning us, I think it's because we didn't give Dwight what he wanted and traded him to Brooklyn. The agents to these players are seeing that and so are the players. Some players don't care, but the agents do. They're most likely steering the players away from us because of this.

Doubt it. Money talks. Only agent we've pissed off is Fegan. A lot of the negative stuff about the Magic has been put out by Fegan and Dwight's people.

4 Front Offices can't be wrong, he's simply not a head coach.

Don't forget Lindsey Hunter. According to a report yesterday, Hunter is second front runner for the job.

From yesterday:

Gery Woelfel ‏@GeryWoelfel
League sources say Jacque Vaughn is front-runner, with Lindsey Hunter second for Magic job.

The idea that when the season starts Dwight (he isn't going to be traded by the way) is going to be booed by the fans is pure fantasy.

Do you think the average Magic fan is 8 years old or something? Doesn't matter if most fans don't frequent forums... Dwight requested yet another trade after his whole loyalty speech. People who attend games know this and they will take it personally unless he fools them with another apologetic public speech. It's been a year and he still wants out. Scott Anez had multiple meltdowns on the radio before games leading up to the trade deadline. He ranted like no other. He was heated and fans were calling in to express the same negative opinions. I'm sure Schmitz and Bianchi will do their part to tear Howard down leading up to the start of the season, too. Fans are sick of Dwight Howard's indecision and they're sick of the coverage. They want a resolution. He will get his share of boos.

PS: my parents are Magic fans in their 60s and don't use computers... they're disgusted with Howard and want him gone.

Hennigan probably is 100% focused on the coach search and the Dwight Howard situation before he starts adding to our cap hell.

I believe it has some to do with the Howard situation, not knowing the magics plan for the future as far as rebuild and also i believe the players agents know Orlando has no cap space

I disagree. It makes little sense for the Magic to sign free agents right now. As frustrating as it is, the Dwight situation has to be resolved first. Even then i don't think we're going to spend cash this off season. Let us suck with the rooks for a year, get a high draft piick and have cap space for max players to boot.

I agree with you Darth but with the way the rebuild is looking like a from the ground up rebuild, it my be a couple seasons before the Magic start signing max players

Pretty sure free agents focus on teams with cap space when they're highlighting places they want to go to.

Pretty much this. No free agent is really looking at Orlando because things are in a state of flux. Howard staying changes the plans and Howard going, which is what will happen, turns us into a total rebuild over night. The cap situation is totally changed with 1 trade, as are the players available. Why add to that now?

As Darth says, I think we're hoping for 2 lottery picks, blood young players like Nicholson and Harper, and then go from there.

In my eyes the NBA is absolute. You're either a contender or you might as will be in rebuild. Because being as we are now is just a waste of time.

Young coach for younger team, whether with or without Dwight, we are younger with draftees, Ayon, and looking to sign Ish or Wayns.

Since Vaughn is a higher possibility now.. I'll just leave this here again:
"We didn’t really have a spot for him, I just made it up," Popovich said. "That’s how badly we wanted him. We didn’t want to lose him to someone else."

During Vaughn’s playing career, Popovich often described him as a coach in the making.
"It was evident everyone on the team looked up to him and respected him, even though he wasn’t the most talented player,"Popovich said. "He was always on my list as someone we wanted back when he was done playing."

When Vaughn decided this summer he was ready to return to the NBA workforce, Popovich and Spurs general manager R.C. Buford had one question for him: "What do you want to do?"
"He could have done anything, in management or coaching," Popovich said. "If he had wanted to go into management, we would have created a spot in management."

I see us picking up a couple vets along the way on short term deals. Someone to show the young guys how to play and act. When they come off you try to be players in free agency and start making long playoff runs. Easy as that . :D It will be very interesting to see how free agents treat the Magic once we have some cap room.

I see Vaughn, a guy that can grow with the team. If Pop likes him, I would be good with it.

Shaw and Malone make sense if we had any plans of keeping Howard. Both also would carry a higher price tag, even as a rookie coach. The fact that Shaw took himself out of the Bobcats, Cavs and our search, probably just means he is not looking to rebuild. Shaw and Maolne are both still in the running for Portland who already tried for Phil and wants to compete asap.

Well coming from Pop that says a lot. I guess I'll give Vaughn a chance.
