Its not really Frye for Jrich trade. Current situation Frye could play backup center, worse than lopez on defence better on offence. So its kind of marginal impact situation who to choose. But now when we sign Lopez to 5-6 million deal(is he really worth that ? 6 million for backup center who is not good , really ?) and deal frye for Jrich we took on 5-6 million salary annualy...

12 million in -> 6 million out

Basically: we sign SG in Jrich for 3 years 19 million...

it just isnt good...

I firmly believe that has a lot to do with the system change. I'd rather dump Frye for nothing just to get rid of his contract, but getting J-Rich in return wouldn't be awful. Move makes zero sense for Orlando, though. They need to strip every lengthy (sort of lengthy) off the books.

If we're not planning on keeping him, trade him for a SG....solves one of our roster needs.

That would make a lot of sense. Who could we get for Lopez is really the question....

I'm still believe Mayo is our best option. 4 year 28 million....32 with all-star bonuses. If he makes the all-star team, he is WELL worth 8 million. If not, 7 is fair market value in my opinion. (Front loaded contract would be best)

Redd for fairly cheap gives us two sage vets to help mentor the young squad....I think we are set at that point (unless Hill wants to sign on). S&T Lopez for a late pick if he wants too much....

Dragic (35)/Marshall (13)
Mayo (35)/Redd (10)/Dudley (3)
Beasley (30)/Dudley...(18)
Scola (28)/Morris (15)/Beasley(5)
Gortat(30)/Frye(18)...maybe Oden

Dell Demps doesn't seem to be terribly well spoken. He doesn't sound like a gm at all in this interview about Gordon..

Why is that? 5 per year is about right for someone like Lopez.

No to JRich...
Shannon Brown atleast is yet to see achieve his prime... And more athletic now.

Might as well sign Mayo at 7 million with incentives like Dragic... Maybe he'll bite.

Speaking of Lopez, why are we so hell bent to keep him? For someone who plays 15 minutes a game, it's a lot of time, effort, and money. Are we looking to trade Gortat?

I'm not a huge Lopez fan but after watching what other 7 footers are getting paid this summer that's not a bad deal at all. Especially if we can trade Frye for a shooting guard.

If we can trade Frye for a decent shooting guard, I will be fairly happy with all the moves.

So 5 mil a year for a 7 ft center who can still protect the rim and is only 24 yrs old is too much? Have you guys seen Amir Asik contract? :o

Before getting too far into this recap, let's establish that the New York Knicks may have assembled the worst summer league roster in Vegas. After losing by 50 to Golden State on Friday night, they improved to only a 25-point loss to the Suns summer squad.

Between the two teams, there was one NBA player on the court: Markieff Morris. Just before the tip, and even to Markieff's surprise, Kendall Marshall was held out because he hadn't yet signed his contract. At the time, I was floored by this news, but possibly the delay was related to the Luis Scola amnesty claim and all the moving parts on the salary cap waiting for Gordon to take his physical for the Hornets before the cap hold was released.

Suns assistant coach, and summer head coach, Dan Majerle on Markieff Morris' summer: "It's big for him because he didn't get to do this last year. He's been working extremely hard, been working in Phoenix on not only his body but his game and I told him I'm going to go to him a lot this (summer), especially in the post. He took it to heart, and he did a great job."

Note that those comments are in stark contrast to his out-of-shape comments on the Suns' last summertime PF, Earl Clark. Morris finished with 21 points, 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and an assist and a steal. Morris looked thicker out there than he appeared last season. He is a 6'9" and a solid 240 pounds - perfectly sized for an NBA power forward.

DeShawn Sims scored 16, while Dionte Garrett had 10 assists and 3 steals, to go along with 8 points, in a starting role while Marshall awaited his finalized contract.

Hit the jump for video and postgame quotes from Markieff Morris, including a "whatthe" moment when hearing about Luis Scola, as well as more quotes from Dan Majerle.

stupid signing Lopez for that much
i don't mind JRich for Frye - because the suns need a two guard so to me, it would be saving $6m on a two guard - except you blew your stuff on Lopez. but no way Lopez for three years

good stuff Ray Ray - I am not surprused Frye is out there

The Suns should have signed Ian Mahimi to replace Lopez. That was the one thing we should have a DEFINITELY done.

I was just told is that the Suns have called the Magic to see if we have assest that they are interested for DHoward? :o

No effing kidding !!!

This a packaged I put together not sure if this would be enough!

DHoward ( 19.5 mil) for Marcin Gortat (7.4 mil), Channing Frye (5.4 mil) ,Kendall Marshall (1.9 mil) and the one of the Lakers 1st round and one of the Suns 1st round pick!!

Suns theory is worst case scenario if they trade for DHoward and if he leaves via free agency, they get 18 mil of cap space next offseason to go after both James Harden & Serge Ibaka

Imagine a lineup of

Dragic/ Telfair
Dudley /Redd
Beasley
Scola/Morris
Howard

*** The Suns just called to cage the Magic interest

well, when you put it that way,. With what Mahimi got, Asik got, - Lopez kind of makes sense. Maybe offer Lopez 4 years for $17m - I could live with that kind of deal. Then trade Frye for JRich.

I really think I could live with Frye for JRich. Keep some cap flexibility with getting Lopez signed, getting a 2G and then not using Frye's contract. I mean, one year or not, Lopez will cost about $3-4m bucks per year.

I say sign Lopez for one year - and then trade Frye for JRich.

Return to Phoenix Suns
