Dunlapism to Kemba driving lane: "You are big when you are small; in among the trees make 'em pay." I get it, but a bit Cat in the Hat? -Bonnell
Cant see Kemva making anyone "pay". Good way to get your 6' 190 pound PG hurt.

Sweet.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
That one driveing layup by Kemba last night was incredible (the spinning/offbalance one). After that play he could have missed 20 consecutive shots and turned the ball over 10 times and I still would have been optimistic about his game. If Kemba would stop taking contested jumpers (3 pointers in specific) he could be a very efficient/high end scorer in the NBA. I also liked his improved decision making last night in his passes. Though to be fair the entire MKG-JT chemistry had me more excited.

Kemba is a jumpshot away from being lethal. He can get his shot off anytime, it's just too bad his shot isn't very good.

Im betting it improves, but only marginally this season.
Oh by the way- your avatar needs to be a HOF nomination.

Absorbing like a disposable diaper that he tosses on the way out of the gym.. kid needs to figure out he's not a jedi and can't will the balls into the basket. Dunlap needs to teach him that his job as the point is to put the ball in the player's hands that has the highest percentage chance of scoring -- which for kwalks means passing it as soon as he brings it across half court

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
Just want to throw this out there for an example of a player who started off with abysmal shooting, and was given the 'chucking' label early in his career.

Have a look at the yearly averages. Thats an increase in fg efficiency over time that Walker should strive for. Will he improve like this? I doubt it, but the evidence of possible improvement is there.
If walker shows the same linear progression over the next few seasons i'd be stoked.
Westbrook got a lot of heat early in the same vein Kemba did, funny people don't remember this much. Athough he does still get hated on by folks today for his efficiency.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
I don't think Kemba will ever score like Westbrook due to his size. Finishing around the rim will never be as efficient. If he can improve his 3pt shot though he will be fine. I think Kemba already has shown flashes of being the better play making PG. I think Kemba could be a 7 or 8 assist guy with around 15 ppg. He has shown flashes of ability to find people after beating defenders with his quickness.

Kemba is #1 in Las Vegas summer league assists with only 1 turnover per game on an undefeated team and hit a game winner. hes having a pretty good summer league imo

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
I agree. I think he is developing nicely as a PG. I think he will be a good player for us in the long run. He just needs to improve his shooting from range and he will be a very good starter. With his quickness an outside shot would make him deadly.

His 26% from the floor after 3 games (on 14 fga's per game) might disagree.

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
why does he insist on shooting so much if he misses so much? I just don't get it, he never stops missing shots over and over and over... Why? Does he think you get better by missing NBA shots?

Re: The Kemba Walker Thread
26% on 14fga is not something that can be completely overlooked (especially in summer league for a player with his experience).
its fantastic that he is leading the summer league in assists, top 10 in steals and also leading an undefeated team, but his fg% cannot be brushed aside so easily.
i am still holding out hope that once kemba is on the floor with a few more scorers (hendo, gordon, sessions, mkg and future players) he might see better looks, which should help.
what is scary though, is the number wide open shots missed and the number of shots he takes were he shows terrible form (ie not looking at rim until last second, not square, off-balance etc..)
right now, kemba reminds me of a better passing bobby jackson.

you're downplaying Kemba because of his fg% way too much, hes gonna be tim hardaway at worst

not sure if serious, him having good metric stats such as PER and that future star rating despite having such a horrid fg% is very telling
