I have watched him operate like this before. So have most all of you. Having something go down that ends up landing Iggy or Granger here with concurrent move that brings in a Calderon or equivalent point would surprise me less than nothing else happening for the rest of the offseason. There are too many asset-type pieces sitting here now that just don't make any sense at all around the core pieces of the team.

Don't forget that this team's FO traditionally has relationships (trade - wise) with Indiana, Houston and Toronto for a long time. Teams that have those relationships tend to stick with them when they make impact moves. Boston is also in that mix.

It is very likely that wehavehad to wait for some of the RFA activity (I.e. Hibbert) to shake out before those teams can do anything.

That Petrie has left the building some 8 or 9 years ago!

He cannot make wine out of the stone. He does not have the necessary means to pull of these moves even if they are available.

The Maloofs will not put a product on the floor that does not make them money. They make money by having the lowest payroll in the league, lowest paid GM and coach and bare bones basketball department.

We could easily trade Garcia for Calderon and the Raptors jump on it because it saves them some $5million next season and that is precisely the reason why Maloofs won't do it because that would cost them extra $5 million that they cannot afford to spend.

That is the cruel reality of our situation. As much as Petrie has options to trade for players that would help us and significantly improve the team, he simply can't because the owners don't have the budget for it.

I really don't know that the Raptors do that. They save that money, but they also sacrifice a lot of basketball value.
