I'll always be a Knicks fan ... but this is something I won't soon forget.

We've been so ridiculously careless with our money for so many years ... why wait till now when we've fallen in love with a player do we decide to look the other way. I feel betrayed.

I wish Lin was going to the Nuggets so there would be a legit team to follow besides the NY Dolans

Not done, but I doubt I'll be following much this season.

I won't be done -- I've poured way too much blood, sweat and tears to walk away. But I'm never going to get over it, just like I still haven't gotten over the missed Charles Smith layups or the 97 ejections against Miami. But that's fate that you can't control.

Here the decision is entirely in the hands of the organization. One that I believe it will regret if it chooses not to re-sign Lin. Forget the fact that he is a cash cow and will reward this organization with the loyalty of 1.2 billion fans. And just as many will hate on this organization if we choose to let him go.

What I can't believe is how people in an effort to devalue him will go to the extreme of marginalizing his achievements. How quickly we forget that Lin singlehandedly saved our season last year. If it wasn't for him, we would never have made the playoffs. By helping this team earn a trip to the playoffs, this man earned his money more than the likes of Eddy Curry, Jerome James and Stephon.

Now, I understand the concerns that comes with the contract. But looking at the larger picture, and putting aside the money, we absolutely need Jeremy Lin on this team. The corpse of Jason Kidd, an out-of-shape Felton who hit rock bottom of his career last year, sounds more like Bibby/Davis 2.0. Kidd and Felton at this point are marginally better but if either one of them goes down to an injury, the season is done. That's where we were headed before the arrival of Lin. And then after Lin's injury we reverted to isolation after isolation. A formula that clearly spelled disaster in the playoffs. Remember when we were all praying for Lin to return in the playoffs? Now suddenly we don't need him because we have Raymond Friggin Felton? Puh-leeze. I guarantee that with an over the hill Kidd and an out of shape Felton, we're just going to play isolation basketball for 82 games. I'll still love the team without Lin, but it's going to be unwatchable.

If anyone is a true lifelong Knicks fan who is sick of being burned by Dolan, I have the authority to bring 10 Knicks fans over to Brooklyn. It's legit. You can end your suffering now. Let me know. You won't be a bandwagon fan since nothing has happened yet and the season has yet to begin. I am cool with all fellow Tri-staters who have been through the pain and suffering of their favorite team making them go insane.

Kind of puts Knicks fan in a bad predicament.

What would some of you do?

-Become a Rockets fans and watch Lin play for a lottery team
-Become a Nets fan and downgrade, because they won't be better than the Knicks without Dwight
-Become a Heat Fan!

if a person is easily able to root for another team there is no way they were diehard Knicks fan to begin with. Unless Dolan physically harms my family or me in some manner, I am a Knicks fan for life regardless if he is an idiot. And a lot of you guys are turning Lin, a guy who played 25 games, into bigger than the team.

If you guys DO match Lin, that's going to be a tense locker room.
Before I walked through life, now I frolic.

i can't believe there was a single person that voted yes.

if you're a real NYK fan, you'll root for them regardless. i wasn't a fan of the melo trade, and i voiced my disgust - i have since learned to just deal with it -, but that doesn't mean you stop being a fan of the team if you truly are one

I'll still be a fan. That doesn't change the fact that the Knicks are like an abusive spouse. No matter how much pain they cause me, I still keep going back for more.

I root for the name on the front of the Jersey, not the back.

Honestly, i am sure those who said Yes would root for both teams. Like me, regardless of the outcome, I will be rooting for both teams; of course the knicks more when they play the nets!

Let me ask you guys a question. If you had season tickets for 20 years. And finally in year 21 the increase is too much for you. Is Dolan going to cut you slack because of the loyalty you've shown him and let you keep your seats forgone more season?

In life if you don't have a stop loss. You are going to get abused. I've been dealing with 19 years of the Knicks bull and am tired of having a ton of resources and being laughed at and made fun of. I have taken stabs, bullets, punches, you name it. Id be a fool to take this last blow and continue to spend money that could feed small villeges on an organization that continues to waste it! If that what bleeding orange and blue is than no thanks.

What many of you fail to realize the change that you so desperately desire will never come if you don't put your foot down and demand it! We pay Melo's salary not Dolan! I want Lin here and Dolan better deliver or he can find another punk! I'm tired of being dolans punk!

Ill still be a knicks fan, Ive come to expect for the worst when it comes to the knicks, this organization isn't the Spurs front office..so I dont expect us to match lin.

That said, I'll laugh my ass off after we faught for early bird rights, and we threw millions at felton, kidd, and camby, and didnt retain our young promising potential allstar prospect.

Return to New York Knicks
