Something i don't get is the contradiction in his tweets. He first says that the Magic are telling everyone he is recovered yet then he says he can't even run. Wut.

If those tweets are true, I'll trade Howard for a bag of chips at this point. The guy is a cancer with that attitude. "CRY! WHINE! DEVOS DIDN'T WIPE MY A$$ OR TUCK ME INTO BED! WHINE!"

He's just another nba diva. It's okay though, he forgives the Magic.

Re: Official Speculation Thread (Pt.XXXIX Off-Season Edition
I think people who think that SVG should still be the coach are underestimating how unprofessional it was of him to talk about Dwight's request that he be fired. (Regardless of how unprofessional it was of Dwight). After that, SVG had broken faith the both management and players (both current and future).
Secondly, while SVG certainly has both a will and a mind to instill some excellent basketball strategies, he really struggled with finding offenisve solutions for teams that single covered Dwight (most notably LAL, Boston and ATL). This issue was most glaring in the playoffs and it repeated itself every post season. I don't think SVG had the most well rounded roster to use, but I also think he didn't do enough with it, or he didn't complain to Otis hard enough to get some more offensive variety.
I also think that SVG did have a proclivity for playing lesser talented veterans over younger players/rookies. Its true that he did play Dwight, Lee and eventually Redick, but I don't think he gets credit for developing those players. Dwight was starting his 4th year when SVG was hired, so SVG doesn't really get much credit there. With Lee, SVG could either play Lee or sophomre Redick - there was no veteran SG on the 08-09 team so SVG didn't somehow go outside of his modus operandi and play a youngster over a vet. I also wonder where Ryan Anderson's development would be if Shard had never gotten suspended for the first 10 games because nothing indicated that SVG was ready to start Ryan over Shard just based on play.
Again, the Magic needed some new talent on the roster regardless of the coach, but SVG sealed his own fate by failing to keep a lid on his mouth so none of these candidates should be compared to SVG. His player development certainly wasn't going to be viewed as strong as a former player with a better temper, and right now, it appears that the Magic will need player development more than X's and O's. Therefore, going with a guy like Vaughn or Hunter makes sense.

It comes off as selfish but Devos just sucks. You don't think Mark Cuban would be checking up on him?
I can see why he doesn't trust Alex anymore either. Alex comes in, smooth talks him, gets him to sign up for one more year then, bam, he no longer talks to Dwight. Sounds like the sleazy guy at the bar, no?

Why would the Magic get him to opt in, then just ignore him, sorry that just doesn't make sense. Dwight opted in, and then the fiasco with Stan happened and Dwight demanded a trade again. Why should the Magic continually check up with him when the relationship is **** and he wants out?

He is in LA to rehab, not stand by the phone and wait every second for Alex, Rob or Devos to call him. He sounds like a jaded girlfriend or something if that is indeed him talking. Pure b*tchblood.

No way Dwight is stupid enough to say that the Magic have done this to every star they've had. Well, I guess he is stupid enough.

That's different than calling a press conference and announcing it.
Please, you can't defend what SVG did here. In a high profile position there are some things you don't do, and airing out your dirty laundry versus your star player, well, it's pretty high up on that list.
My recollection wasn't that SVG called a conference to announce it. It was during a press conference (practice day?) that SVG was asked about it, and he straight up answered the question.
Is that not how it happened? Am I not remembering correctly?

We do kind of have a track record.. in the minds of our previous stars, anyway..
We can openly debate on how much a star should be coddled by the franchise, but the fact is, if we don't someone else out there surely will. Orlando isn't exactly a prime destination to be taking the high road in.

We lowballed Shaq and learned from that, what exactly have we "done" to any of our previous stars?

SVG spilled the beans during a regular conference. He didn't call a meeting or conference. He told the truth and people hate him for it which I find hilarious. Better than hiding in LA.

1) He didn't call a press conference. It was a routine coach interview after practice.
Oh, excuse me. He was talking to the press though, correct?
2) He didn't announce anything. He just truthfully answered a question that he was repeatedly asked during that interview that he repeatedly deflected.
A better answer might have been 'I'm not going to comment on that, move on.' But I wanted to be sure, so I went back and watched the event in question again. Stan certainly wasn't shy about his comments, in fact he went on for quite some time about the situation and went on to emphasize the importance of honesty and not understanding why someone would deny such a conversation had taken place.
His intentions were not to throw anyone under a bus, just answered a yes or no question. I think some people need to watch the interview one more time. It's not as menacing and deceitful as some of you make it out to be.
If you go back and listen to that Q&A, it becomes pretty clear that that was exactly what his intention was.

I don't hate him for it, in fact I love the guy as a coach. What I am saying is, after that round of Q&A, there was no way he could stay on as coach.
