Can we get Darko for backup Center

Post#1 » by nycefnl » Thu Jul 12, 2012 3:11 pm

The Timberwolves plan to amnesty Darko Milicic in order to clear additional cap space for an offer sheet to Nicolas Batum, a league source says.

Milicic, 27, has two years and $10 million remaining on his contract but only $7 million is guaranteed.

The Blazers plan to match all offers for Batum.

Lopez is always hurt. If he goes down we have no one to turn to. Is there anyway we can get this guy in here? Think they'll take Hump for him?

I don't think it's fair to label Lopez as "always hurt" just yet...

I would rather go for a veteran like Elton Brand

Brand, Darko & Haywood will all be claimed by teams with cap space, if not, they will go to the contenders...

I think your underestimating the power of BK and all of the players we can sign. This team is as attractive as the Heat IMO. Just because of our name and the legacy Proky is trying to prove.

Not really, I'm just managing my expectations as a fan. Well, if they perceive that going to Brooklyn is cool, then I'm all for it...

I agree with that first sentence, but not the second so much. Miami just won a title and has the best player in the league. That is the most attractive spot to anyone in either conference.

Camby and Nash showing interest in this team shows a small sample of Brooklyn's potential.

At the minimum, knowing he has a couple players slated to play in front of him, probably not

I say NO to signing Darko. We should just bring Memhet Okur back if he can stay healthy.

Okur is done.

We need someone who can defend...in the paint.

Reggie Evans isn't gonna just let teams come into the paint either.

There aren't very many options at C outside of Darko. I would take a flier on him for sure. Not that he's physical but he would be an upgrade over Petro for sure.
OKC Thunder fan, too.

Darko on a vet minimum? Sure. I could care less who we sign for this spot. Just get us a big magooboo worth 5 fouls and lets be done with it. If he can rebound and block a shot here and there...great.

Who would you prefer on a one year veteran minimum Darko or Jermaine O'Neal?

JO has been injured plenty. But, 15 minutes a game and an emergency starter for Jermaine might not be the end of the world.

I say we go after both and then whichever one works best for us money and playing time wise we sign.

I'd still go for Darko. Maine's play mileage is already getting the best of him...

IDK, the more I think about Darko, the more I believe he's not going to change his attitude.

Has he ever played on a good team though, with the kind of veterans (Crash, Stack), quality players (JJ, Lopez), and leadership/professionalism (DWill, Avery) like the Nets will have this year?

Darko is an ass. Forget what he was projected to be. He is by far the worst draft mistake ever. But...he is a big boy who can block shots and for a league minimum contract as a back up center he is a bargain. Rather have Blatche but Darko is fine for this job. Cant see Blatche clear waivers anyway.

This team needs a character like that anyway who's going to push back when pushed. Evans and him being our goons would be good to protect Bropez.
