Carmelo is right. Period. The contract is ridiculous for a 20 some odd game stretch. JR is right, 8 mil a year for a kid who hasn't played a season yet would probably make a ton of people in the league resentful. End of discussion about that.

I have never heard of players making public negative statements about a teammate's contract. Never. Not even Eddy Curry's or Jerome James' or Mo Taylor's. And it just so happens that they are saying this about the only Asian player in the league. I think there is racism involved.

If you can't see the unique situation Lin is besides his race than maybe you're living in the wrong era.

I can see more of a unique situation than his race - the fact that teammates are saying things about his contract that I have never heard anyone say about a teammate before. It's just not done. You don't comment negatively on a player's contract. That's mind-bogglingly unique. It doesn't matter that he's making a lot. This is just not something that players publicly say. Can't say for sure, but I think racial stuff is involved.

Can't say that he isn't.

I think because he's so clutch you could win a title with Melo ... he needs to play complete games in the regular season, and you need to get Amare out of the paint, and surround him with defenders and satellite shooters.

Kidd, JR, Novak, Tyson, Camby, Shumpert all fit that mold. You need Battier and Ray Allen, and Wilson Chandler.

... you need spacing and a PG that can bomb threes, or teams sag in on Melo.

Amare has to change as a player, or it won't work. He needs to become more Bosh-esque. Add range and defense.

You need the right team around him, but I believe Melo is championship calibre.

Maybe. I still don't get why the Knicks should be upset with Lin.

If anything Knicks should be upset with Houston. In that case Dolan would typically let his wallet speak for his pride and match.

Maybe this is all a smoke screen to F with Houston. Dolan doesn't give a crap about the fans and thinks we are all morons. If we get toyed with in the process he wouldnt care

This is not really parallel to the Dwight news because the Magic were just not revealing what they were doing or thinking. The Knicks, on the other hand, are essentially communicating to us with the Felton deal and with sources who have been alerted to what's going on.

These stories that people come up with -- me included -- can sometimes be off base.

We don't really know if we're not there. In fact, it's very difficult to say what's going on from a distance.

However, the thing that the Rockets fan posted -- about how Morey duped us into believing the offer was low and then we added contracts and they pumped up the offer -- it does seem to add up.

If so, how could the Knicks do that? It's like amateur hour. You have to pay attention to details and make sure things are official. Just crazy that we could lose Lin over that kind of trickery.

Hate to say it, but Isiah still has influence in the front office and we all know how smart he is.

I know for a fact that the Nuggets' front office won't deal with the Rockets at all, because they've pulled out of deals and other BS... they play dirty pool.

Not only that, but the Rockets actually did a deal with us to add to our salary, then raised the offer.

It's probably frowned upon in NBA circles. Teams don't try to screw each other in broad daylight like that.
