Why is this being ignored and supplemented with excuses like "they told him to get his value" and "can't blame him for getting his money" ...
Well then you can't blame the Knicks for feeling a bit betrayed and not throwing millions of dollars out to sign him, when they [apparently] weren't able to negotiate on their own. If Lin wanted to get his money and be in NY, he'd have made an effort to do so. Not gone out and get as much money as he could, get upset it's not as much as he wanted, settle, find out he can get more and sign more.... And people expect the Knicks to simply unquestionably follow this kid around like he's Lebron matching anything anyone throws at him... because... you think he's going to be some prodigy that'll lead this team to a ring? Come on now...
It'd be a lot more fun if Lin is on this team come tomorrow... But I'm not going to sit here and act like our championship aspirations are dashed bc Jermey Lin is no longer on the team, and were stuck with Jason Kidd (who incidentally won a 2 years ago) and Felton. Just more exaggeration.
The guy has tiptoed around, and from what i've gathered, come off like he doesn't want to be here any more than the Rockets.. Why would I want someone like that here? Then again, I don't think he's going to be a "very good PG" so i'm a little bias.
The reason why people perceive Lin as the "good guy" is because that's what they actually do believe; from the things he's said, the way he acts. Personality matters a lot when it comes to entertainers connecting with their audience. To many, Lin is intelligent, hard-working, personable, humble...and his underdog story resonates with A LOT of people; fans of his feel like they're a part of the magical experience. I don't personally know him, but that's the image he has and to me, it's likely that he is that in actuality. Someone like Melo doesn't have that benefit of the doubt with many fans because of his personality, even though he's a vastly superior talent. It's also why someone like Durant would get a pass more times than Melo.
