Rod Boone ‏@rodboone
Melo: "It's just a matter of them figuring it out at this point."

More Melo on ‪#Lin‬: "With Jeremy, I know he definitely wants to be back in New York & Dolan definitely wants him back."

Why do people think Melo doesn't like Lin? "I don’t know. I can't worry about that. Ask Lin he’ll tell you what a good relationship we have"

Rod Boone ‏@rodboone
Melo: "It was ridiculous for them to do what they did, as far as throwing that out there and making it tougher on us to sign him back."

If what Melo is saying is 100% true, then what's the problem. Hurry up and re-sign him. If he wants back in, and Dolan wants him back in, there should be no problem. The luxury tax never stopped Dolan before so why should it stop him now.

Because there's no rush to re-sign him. Still another day to go. It's hard, but we all need to be patient.

Get out of here... Respect, Courtesy, and a little appreciation for the kid that spared his reputation. Do you know how bad it would have been for Melo if we hadn't made the playoffs?

Melo owes Jeremy Lin nothing... Lin bought D'antoni a few more weeks, Melo brought us to the playoffs

I don't think a lot of these posters here remember, but for what it's worth, we were a count hair from not making the playoffs. That count hair happened to be Jeremy Lin. Before he showed up, we were in shambles. I was just about to give up on the season. If the hate for the max cats we have is strong now, can you imagine if we didn't make it? Unbelievable. While D'Antoni would've gotten the brunt of it, there would've been enough anger to spread around for both Melo and Amare.

You never know. Do not get to happy. Sometimes they just give us what we want to hear to get us off their backs.

i don't see why Carmelo would say he knows Dolan "definitely" wants Lin back if it wasn't true. I don't think Melo would just lie outright in this kind of situation.

I just do not want to get slapped in the face while smiling, I am prepared for the worst.

So the Lin threads apparently will end at #7.
Fitting.

Lin's original number was #7. Melo's number is #7. Those two are destined for each other.

Knicker23 wrote:I wouldn't read too much into what he's saying as if it's breaking news.. He said he'd want Lin back right after he said the "ridiculous" comment too - it just went ignored.

And I suppose it's a nice thing that he's choosing to say "Lin wants to be back" and "Dolan wants him back" - but I doubt he's revealing too much about what will happen.. I doubt he even knows.. And is opting to be politically correct, as even saying 'no comment' would be chastised here.

It was ignored because he had already put his foot in his mouth...

Listen... anyone who comes on here knows the lengths I've went to to defend Carmelo Anthony... Definitely the same but probably more than anyone on this damn board... but I can't just come on here and get all rara about the guy when I think he's wrong or is coming up short on the court. That's the difference between me and the rest of y'all... you just can't defend a person you don't know until the end of the world. It's a bad look.

I opt to side with Melo on most things.. But this isn't one that causes me to question my view. It should be clear for anyone not looking to connect lines of "Melo doesn't like Lin" "Blame Melo" etc that he wasn't slighting Lin when he said the comment, he was slighting the tactics Houston was using to lure him away. He didn't need to spell it out to see that. He didn't make a gaff or reveal anything about some sort of dislike for Lin as many are eager to pin on him. As is always the case, he has to unnecessarily defend himself.

To do what every athlete does STFU when someone asks you about a contract negotiation concerning another player.. is that not easy enough to comprehend?

I am wishing they decided they were going to match even when the new offer came out, but made it seem like bad blood to really hurt the rockets. If they just stayed quiet, Houston would be making plan b (Brooks). Now, since Brooks is off the table, its safe to come out into the light.

Again... to STFU when he's asked about another players contract... that's all I've said.
