The majority of fans (56%) on NBA.com think Knicks should let Lin walk. Wow.

I feel you.. the way this board and the majority if Knicks fans I heard on the radio (because I've been listening lately) turned on a kid who was a true underdog and brought so much excitement and hope to a team that is the laughing stock of league is just shameful.

Not only the fans... Michael Kay was spouting some bs that Lin couldn't get his own shot and was bad in iso... also kept saying that he was a horrible FT shooter.
It honestly sounds as if some want Melo to kiss Lin's butt.
Get out of here... Respect, Courtesy, and a little appreciation for the kid that spared his reputation. Do you know how bad it would have been for Melo if we hadn't made the playoffs?
I don't think a lot of these posters here remember, but for what it's worth, we were a count hair from not making the playoffs. That count hair happened to be Jeremy Lin. Before he showed up, we were in shambles. I was just about to give up on the season. If the hate for the max cats we have is strong now, can you imagine if we didn't make it? Unbelievable. While D'Antoni would've gotten the brunt of it, there would've been enough anger to spread around for both Melo and Amare.
So you want Melo to say "Lin saved my ass"?
Not at all, but the truth is in the pudding. Whether dude was pulling back and not playing at 100, while waiting fro Dantoni to bounce or not, it was lin that resurged the turnaround that led to our playoff showing. Without his play from nowhere, you cant logically say we were going to make it.

Again... to STFU when he's asked about another players contract... that's all I've said.

If he did that, it's simply be "Whhyyy isn't Melo supporting Lin" ----> "Melo doesn't care if Lin is back" ----> "Knicks aren't bringing Lin back because of Melo" -----> "Thanks Melo for Lin not being a Knick"

People don't remember how absolutely EFFING miserable the team was and everything surrounding the team was.

Remember the Melo soundbite?

"It sucks," Anthony later said. "The situation we're in right now sucks. Losing basketball games sucks. The way we've been losing games at the end of the game sucks --- not a good feeling right now."

Guys like Kay, Legrecca, SAS are the absolute worst, especially Kay and Don because they don't know anything about basketball. But the problem is that they actually change the minds, or at the very least, influence the fans. Basically everyone that calls in that wants Lin gone just repeats everything SAS says.

You never know. Do not get to happy. Sometimes they just give us what we want to hear to get us off their backs.

i don't see why Carmelo would say he knows Dolan "definitely" wants Lin back if it wasn't true. I don't think Melo would just lie outright in this kind of situation.

Because saying that "Dolan wants Lin back" is completely different from saying "Dolan wants Lin at any price." I'm really not reading anything into that statement at all.

Which poll? I didn't even realize there was one since I've been stuck in the Hotel California that is this thread for the past two days. Do the users in that poll number greater than 10,000--the number of signatories to an internet petition to keep the kid in NY? Or every single legitimate poster on our board that is for matching? The backlash against the Knicks has been swift and deserved for the confusion. Idk man, I got the sense that most people wanted to match and those who didn't--unless they were obvious trolls--didn't understand the salary cap.

I think Melo was covering his ass a little bit on the possible Lin backlash against him, but I think it's genuine too, and I don't think he would throw out, "I think Dolan deft. wants him back too" just to create a mirage.
