It is really hard for me to point to anything Jamison did well last year.

-He is a terrible defender
-He is a terrible rebounder
-He is not a good shooter (68% from FT line, 34% from outside)
-He struggled to score (40% shooting for a PF? WOW)

I know LA fans are saying things like "instant offense off the bench"...but if that were the case, he wouldn't have shot 40-34-68 last year. Those are terrible percentages and don't even come close to off-setting what he did (or didn't do...) at the defensive end.

Wow, if this were 10 years ago, the Lakers would be incredibly scary!

Finally we can play 3 bigs at once again, too bad the third big is a 36 year old Jamison and not Odom.

It's a good addition if it happens.

The ages of anyone that we bring in at this point is irrelevant because the championship window closes when Kobe retires anyways.

Complaining about Jamison's age is like complaining about dating a milf who is a 5 when our bench has been filled with fugly 1's. Anyone who can hit an open jumper is a step up right now.

exactly. The Lakers have these next two years and then the roster will be revamped completely. Pau's and Kobe's contract will be done by then as well.

PG: Steve Nash
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Grant Hill
PF: Antoine Jamison
C: Pau Gasol
6th man: Ron Artest, 7th man Jermaine ONeal

If you could have had that lineup in 2002-3 you would have easily won championships.

If the Lakers go on to win a championship, which they now have a legit shot at, all these people in here talking about how done Jamison is will be playing the "stacked" card. It is what it is.

There's still a chance this is just bs, but if he does end up in LA it would be absolutely ridiculous to see it as anything other than a big upgrade. I mean, Troy Murphy?

Jamison just came off the worst shooting season of his career and an ugly shooting season in general. Hopefully playing around better talent will open up some space for him, because right now he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

IMO, Lakers are looking worse and worse with these signings. I thought the whole point of this off-season was to get some quality youth and decent shooters. Instead they've signed 3 guys with an average age of 38, only 1 of whom shoots the ball well from outside. I've actually always liked Jamison, and Hill is my all-time favorite player, but I don't think you want to depend on those two for your bench at this moment. This could turn south very quickly.

so they should rely on Murphy and McBob?

Lakers can't go after youth since young UFAs are never going to take the minimum, so expecting them to get younger was never really plausible outside of trading Pau.

Spoken like someone who obviously didn't watch the Lakers play this past season.

I mean seriously, no one can convince Lakers fans that Antawn Jamison isn't an upgrade over Troy Murphy. TROY MURPHY.

Whatever Jamison can't do, I can guarantee you he can still do it than Troy Murphy.

The Lakers are loading up for a last run. It's what older teams do. LA had one of the worst benches in the league last year. Almost anything is an upgrade.

Unfortunately I did watch the Lakers play last season, just like every season. Not by choice mind you, simply because I can't watch basketball on cable television and avoid them.

Depending on a 36 year old and a 40 year old for bench production is not a good idea. The fact that Murphy was wretched does not change this.

Yeah, they needed to take a serious look at that roster. It's a shame they couldn't swing Bynum for Howard and a shooter or two.

Is Jamison really that bad? Admittedly I haven't watched him play much the last couple seasons, but is he really Troy Murphy bad?

I don't know how fair it is to judge how he will perform for the Lakers vs how he performed for the Cavs the last couple years. He was playing 33 minutes a game and was a #1/#2 option for them. I'd like to think having a lesser role and playing a lot less minutes would help him be more fresh, and help his efficiency.

What more can you expect to get for the vet min anyway? I think it's a good pick up.

17ppg last year granted he was on a sh*t team but still trumps anything we currently have off the bench.

His efficiency was atrocious last year an his defense is even worst.
