He's the best player we have off the bench & will finally give us a stretch 4 for Bynum & Gasol.. For the minimum, you can't complain.. Same with Grant Hill.. He will be an upgrade from Barnes.. I hope they don't use this as an excuse to let Jordan Hill go.. If Bynum goes down with injury or gets suspended, we'll need his skillset.. I'm hoping with the Mayo signing, Delonte is the odd man out in Dallas.. He would be another great minimum signing.. Then we need to package Blake with McRoberts for a young player that will shave a couple million off the payroll.. Maybe Courtney Lee or Tony Allen

I was suggesting we trade for him using Blake & McRoberts.. I'd rather give Lee their paychecks.. He'll give us more than both combined for the same or less $.. Houston still has cap space & the ability to let us save some $ if they're interested in yet another PF

People who are trying to say Troy Murphy = Jamison need to be quiet and leave.

Obviously you didn't see how bad Murphy was last season along with McRoberts, Jamison is a solid addition to the team and definitely an improvement, If Troy Murphy averaged 17/6 last year I would have to agree with all the haters, but that wasn't the case.

Any confirmation on this?

I was shocked that Troy Murphy and McRoberts were that awful last season. They were both thought of as solid players for a time (especially Troy).

Anyone comparing Murphy and Jamison can't be taken seriously. The last good season Troy had was 4 teams ago. Jamison isn't a player that can carry a team but he can be the first option on the lakers bench. He can atleast provide us with 11-13ppg on 42-45% fg. Only thing lakers was missing was a starting PG and a Bench. Starting pg Nash bench scoring? Possibly Jamison and Hill

The ages of anyone that we bring in at this point is irrelevant because the championship window closes when Kobe retires anyways.

Complaining about Jamison's age is like complaining about dating a milf who is a 5 when our bench has been filled with fugly 1's. Anyone who can hit an open jumper is a step up right now.

Jamison just came off the worst shooting season of his career and an ugly shooting season in general. Hopefully playing around better talent will open up some space for him, because right now he can't hit the broad side of a barn.

IMO, Lakers are looking worse and worse with these signings. I thought the whole point of this off-season was to get some quality youth and decent shooters. Instead they've signed 3 guys with an average age of 38, only 1 of whom shoots the ball well from outside. I've actually always liked Jamison, and Hill is my all-time favorite player, but I don't think you want to depend on those two for your bench at this moment. This could turn south very quickly.

No, the point of this summer was to bring in players that will maximize our chances of winning championships in these next few years before Kobe hangs it up. That's it. We are literally incapable of bringing in quality youth because we're over the cap and have only vet mins and exceptions to work with when it comes to offering contracts.

Our bench is atrociously bad. It's awful. You could add 5 years to Jamison and Hill and they'd still outplay McRoberts and Murphy.

The problem right now is that people are looking at last year's stats and their ages and are assessing their merit within this vacuum, This is wrong. Both of these guys will not be leaned on heavily but they will most definitely outperform what Murphy/McBob would have done with their respective cameo appearances each game. I really don't understand why people keep bringing up age as if it matters to a team that is quite literally "all-in" until the end of 2015.

They need to sign Raja Bell. This alternate line-up would be scary:

PG - Nash
SG - Bell
SF - Bryant
PF - Jamison
C - Gasol

Obviously not from a defensive standpoint, but Nash at the helm of those players would be crazy. 4 out, 1 in with Gasol as a PNR partner with Nash. They would carve defenses up.

Antawn Jamison is not good because he can't defend. He might still be somewhat useful offensively but you can score on him at will when he steps on the court. That limits his value to a team trying to win. If the Lakers can't land Howard they're looking like a pretty crappy defensive team.

Bell is done, he should just retire.

Any reasonably talented offensive team just salivates at the though of Nash, Jamison, Gasol/Bynum all on the court trying to defend at the same time.
