Do you really feel like BYU fans are happy with the current state of their schedule WITHOUT playing Utah? I doubt that highly. Utah fans can at least hang their hats on their overrated Pac 12 schedule, but I still think they are kidding themselves if they think they prefer to not play BYU.
BYU is independent. They can set up a schedule that is harder or softer than Utah, no problem. So their current state of the schedule is probably better than Utah. If fact the whole state of Utah throwing out BYU because they want the coveted "Michigan experience" states Utah isn't happy with their current state of their schedule and wish they had more options.
