Any interpretation of what's behind someone's statements would technically have to be defined as opinion, but I think this is fairly obvious.

A lot of things had seem obvious and didn't happen the way it was suppose to happen. Fact is, we don't know whats going to happen or whats going on....its just opinions & specualation.

Then don't bother discussing it?

It's about television contracts, not selling shirts.

Agree with Falstaff and Rovell is a clown. Focusing on the merchandising is a red herring. If the Knicks are winning & have Lin starring a major role, their ratings will be through the roof.

Didn't I read that the TV contract was already negotiated and done? That money is already coming in, Lin or no Lin. It would only affect future contracts.

This is true. The Knicks don't make as much from Lin merchandise as people think. But they also take a share of road revenues and Lin will fill road arenas. They can cut deals with foreign TV getting MSG Network feeds (though not quite sure how this revenue share works). It adds up.

Revenues outside are split amongst all teams

And i wish this forum would talk more about basketball as it pertain to Knicks, rather than indulging in character assassination of people, under the guise of if that person happens to be a Knick, it's talking about Knicks basketball.

"Melo is a scumbag" is not REALLY about the Knicks or basketball.

So long as (unfortunately) statements like that can fuel hundreds of pages of posts and is considered an acceptable, relevant part of the dialogue here, then I'm going to reply what I reply to too.

Deal?

So, they can match him and then re-structure his deal? Is that possible?

It is not restructuring. It is waiving him in year three. Cap hit will not be 15 million. Instead it will be 5 million a season for the next three years. Certainly doable given MSG's history.

MSG's ratings more than DOUBLED from the prior season during Lin's games, the 1st season we had been good in a really long time with Amare being a 1st half MVP candidate. They more than doubled while most of the city couldn't even watch him play because the TWC dispute, lol.

Sorry if I missed it but there is a scheduled press conference?

Knicks are probably using the media to F with the Rockets. In the process they are F’ing with the fans but Dolan doesn’t give a **** about us.

Or they will make a terrible decision and not match.

Either way I hate the way this team does business……..

No, they can't restructure. The stretch provision is only if you waive or amnesty him. Restructuring is only if you keep him...and restructuring doesn't allow you to cut any salary. I don't think a 3yr deal is eligible for restructuring anyway. But you can waive him and use the stretch provision.

Also in NBA Free Agency

And now for the big story of the day: Jeremy Lin. The Knicks will announce a decision this evening regarding the decision on the offer sheet Lin signed with the Rockets. Though reports have indicated the team will pass, internally there has been no final decision made. There are too many factors outside of basketball that come into play in regards to Lin and all of these need to be considered.

Sounds to me like in terms of basketball, they don't want him back; like if they do bring him back it's because of his fan appeal.

I think "Melo is scumbag" is actually an important point to make about the Knicks. If he is, that's something that's going to cast a shadow over at least next 3 years. By the way, I don't think that's something KnicksGod ever said. I sure did though!

And no, we don't have a "deal."

I don't, I follow the news on Twitter and Rovell said he would be on in a couple minutes.
