If Jimmer is Available...

Post#1 » by Neon Black » Tue Jul 17, 2012 7:12 am

The Kings signed Aaron Brooks (just what they need, another undersized score-first point guard). They have 'Reke, Isaiah Thomas, Jimmer and Brooks. I would think either Evans or Fredette are on their way out.

I'm just curious what the overall sentiment is of Jimmer one year later. Do you think he's a bust? Is he still potentially a solid rotation player who was utilized incorrectly? Anyone still think he's Steve Nash or Stephen Curry? Is there room for him on the Jazz?

I'm leaning more towards option B - I think he can carve out a solid role as a contributing scorer/energy guy off the bench, but he'd have to be willing to essentially change the way his game is played. I'm not sure that the place for him would ever be Utah, but seeing how pissed KOC was last year at the draft party, I get the impression he has a huge man crush and would do a move to eventually bring the kid "home".

Doesn't matter.
Utah fan bust
BYU fan under utilized

Only time will tell the answer to that question. One thing is for sure, the Jazz really do need a PG that can score. Now that they have a starter in that role they most likely should get a back up in that role too.

Trade watson and s&t cj for him. We need a somewhat young pg on the team somewhere. Why not jimmer?

Jimmer is not a PG. He is most effective when he is shooting not distributing.

I could go with a S&T for CJ. I wouldn't have a hard time with a Jimmer for Earl Watson and a second round pick either.

I really wouldn't mind trading Earl or Tinsley + 2nd Round Pick for him.

Even if they don't think he'll pan out, I don't think the Kings have a lot of incentive to swap him for Watson or Tinsley.

He'd be a great pickup for the Jazz. I'd make a move for him for a reasonable price, even if you think he's a bust.

Carroll was/is a bust yet everyone here loves him...

Want him. He can really shoot, he's cheap and he's relatively young. He is not a star, but his game is much better suited to fit in the Jazz system than in the Kings' lack of system. Like with Marvin Williams (from now on "Marvill"), nobody will expect a star, just a good system player that can contribute.

And imagine the ESA's noise and energy level if Jimmer is on the Jazz. That extra push will also help the team, not to mention the extra revenues from merchandise sales and the like. As a small market team, maybe that extra money will help in pursuing other free agents.

I would rather have Tyreke but I would take Jimmer to be a 10-15 min per game guy. He can shoot. He has not forgot how to shoot. A decent bench guy backing up both guard positions. S & T CJ with Tinsley is a done deal but KIngs would want a future #1 pick which I say no way.

Give KOC and the Jazz organization credit for not taking the easy way out by drafting Jimmer

I'm a Jimmer fan and I think he needs out of Sacramento to become a decent off the bench player. But although I like him, I don't think I want him on the Jazz. He is too polarizing. Some love him and think he will be a star. Some hate him and love to call him a bust. He would get unjustified cheers and unjustified boos every time he gets in the game (as we saw when he was here with a visiting team). Every forum post about him becomes a fight.

I hope he goes somewhere that he can contribute, I think he is fun to watch. But I don't think the Jazz is the best situation.

I'd take Jimmer. I wouldn't have drafted him, but I'd take him now for anything less than a first.

With the Kings being so far under tha cap they can take back more money.

How about Jefferson/Watson for Thornton/Jimmer?

Seems slighted in the Jazz favor, but the Kings rid themselves of salary commitments and bring in a legit big next to Cousins. The Jazz get a solid scorer and fan favorite in Jimmer. If I am the Kings I don't make this trade, but one could swap out Jefferson for Millsap. If I am the Kings, I make that trade. Not sure the Jazz do.

I know it is not team basketball, but it is sure fun to watch him penetrate and make a shot in the middle of three guys. The long bombers are entertaining too. Maybe he gets a set number of plays run through him each game. Say what you want, but it is entertaining to watch him when he has the ball in his hands.

Highlight reels are a little misleading aren't tehy? At least I liked the music selection.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Don't want Thornton and don't want his contract. Also, the Kings already have a legit big to play next to Cousins - they just drafted Thomas Robinson.
