Gasol/Bynum or bust

exactly.

Then, flip Gasol for Lamb/Parson/pick and we're good.[/quote]

DO this and Henny is GM of the year before the season starts.

Well, Fran is from Spain and wants to live in Spain, what's the problem? He is earning big bucks there too and close to his family. What's the problem? Most of us already turned better offers to stay in a city you liked more, right?

Supposedly LAL signed Antawn Jamison today. Could this be indication they are they offering up both Bynum and Gasol.

Not to mention having to get a new house, learn a new culture and get completely out of your comfort zone. He is almost 30. He is set in his ways and will have to live with the fact that he will never know if he was good enough for the NBA.

We understand that but why declare for a draft if your intentions aren't to come over. Really screws over an organization...

Also you do realize that Jamison and Howard are very very good friends right?

Apparently those contract extension talks with Bynum haven't been going too hot. Hope this doesn't fire back up that Cleveland deal from a few days back..

He did not declare you dunce. Foreign players DO NOT HAVE TO DECLARE...PERIOD. They are automatically "draft eligible" at a certain age or after so many years of playing professional ball. There are completely different rules for foreign players than for American Born prospects. Hence the reason high school prospects have threatened to go play over seas if the NBA changes from a NBA freshman eligible to a sophomore or older.

Yeah, understand completely. Which is why I never expected him to come over at this time.

Do you have a link for this information?

Not sure what this has to do with Euros being automatically eligible for the NBA draft.

Brandon Jennings made it, IIRC.

Wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_NBA_D ... e_entrants

Automatically eligible entrants

This list is intended to include only players who qualify for automatic eligibility despite not meeting the standard criteria—reaching age 22 during the calendar year of the draft for players who qualify as "international" under the CBA, or being four years removed from the graduation of their high school class if they do not qualify as "international".

The signing of a contract with a professional basketball team in a league other than the NBA, combined with rendering services under that contract, may trigger automatic eligibility. The criterion for eligibility differs slightly depending on whether or not the player is "international":

For "international" players, the contract must be with a non-NBA team within the United States.
For non-international players, the contract may be with any team outside of the NBA in any country.

Citizenship is not a criterion for determining whether a player is "international" under the CBA. While the criteria have been discussed elsewhere in this article, they will be repeated here to provide further context. For a player to be "international" under the CBA, he must meet all of the following criteria:

Resident outside the U.S. for at least three years at the time of the draft.
Did not complete basketball eligibility at a U.S. high school.
Never enrolled at a U.S. college or university.

Fran was born in 1983 and drafted by us in 2005 (22 years old).

They believe that Gasol IS on the downside now. They have tried and tried to move him and his huge contract for 2 offseasons now. Also they know that Gasol has to play in the post to be effective and you cannot have a player like Gasol playing next to Dwight and expect Gasol to get his numbers. Versus Jamison can play with Dwight because he is a slightly different version to a stretch 4.

Jamison will work better with Nash than Gasol because he will play further away from the basket.

You trade Gasol if you bring in Howard, even if that means you trade him to another team, because Howard has to be in the paint by himself or the double teams will be horrid. And since Howard is not the best passer out of a double team you can't put him in there with another 7 footer. We saw that did not work with Gortat. It did not work with Bynum either, hence Gasol's decline in numbers last season in the playoffs and the year before.

The defenses collapsed in the paint knowing that both Bynum and Gasol would be camping out in there. It turned the Lakers in to a Jump shooting team with a bunch of players in the paint fighting for the rebound.

Look at the years they won the ship. He and Bynum were hardly on the floor together. There is a reason why Jackson rotated them that way. He knew even in his triangle offense that Gasol & Bynum could not work the paint together.
