^ That's Awesome, this gives us some some much needed maneuvering room.

It's hard to tell if the luxury tax threshold will get higher in the next few seasons, we better hope it will.

Excellent thread.

So, based on all these gather info, I can understand why Riley traded the guaranteed 1st round picks the last 2 seasons, and is looking into signing a rookie non guaranteed center or two.

That also explains why he isn't approaching the likes of Darko, and maybe other FA bigs, and he is now preaching a new era of bball.. the small ball.

Hey, I understand Riley or Mickey for that matter. I mean Riley is part owner and his share is way, way smaller than Arison's, so I don't think losing money fits well in Riley's financial thoughts lol. Now I understand the "bankroll off his back pocket" quote during the Allen/Shard press conference, as if indicating the money situation.

I least we have the solid core of the big 3. The tax will affect other contenders as well, maybe not short term, but long term.

Yup I think some are forgetting that the luxury tax affects the other powerhouse teams too, no just us

Gotta give dap to Mickey for willing to pay tax as a contender. Imagine if he were like Suns owner Robert Sarver, who basically missed out on a title or two for being a cheap-ass.

I think I'd have to pass... I'm rubbish at basketball and I get free healthcare over here so unless I'm earning the vet min or something it'd not be worth my while!

Those guys are for the minimum, its not like we are going to have a empty roster slot.

And he traded that 1st for a future first that will be more expensive.

Imagine if he was like Dolan/Cuban/Allen/Buss/Devos/Grousbeck/Prokarov (projected)

All of them are more willing to spend than Arison for a winning team.

And he was the 2nd richest owner in the league for much of the time (behind only Allen). Additionally he inherited the team from his dad and his dad only had to pay 32 million for the team which is now worth much more than that.

This is also ignoring the other financial benefits of owning the team.

The team that runs the arena is a separate entity from the Miami Heat. That money still goes to Arison.

Carnival Cruise Lines and Arison's other businesses get benefits.

There is going to be a new TV deal for significantly more money.

The luxury tax is going to go up.

The value of the team is going to continue its meteoric rise since we got Lebron.

We've done the hard part. AT least the bulk of our cap holds are tired up by three of the best players in the league. As opposed to the Nets and Knicks who gave more money to lesser players.

Just hoping OKC does something stupid with it's core. That's the only team at where we're at in terms of core and cap hold.

Wouldn't that mean we have to pay an extra subscription?

Here's an updated link about that information: http://www.cbssports.com/nba/blog/eye-o ... ar-tv-deal
