Thanks. I'll still check in now and again after the Lin post-mortem is over (this week and the next few weeks I guess). I just won't follow the team or get invested at all but I'll do a little moderating to stay in touch.

Once the season starts you will be back.

Knicks' brass has already decided to let Jeremy Lin head to Houston. But that doesn't mean owner Dolan won't change his mind by 11:50 2nite.

This is in the running for best post of this series of threads. I can't believe how hilarious you've become.

Kind of funny that this is one situation where fans DO want Dolan to meddle in basketball affairs and override management.

You want to talk about how Dolan's received walking down the street - you may be onto something.. I bet a lot of fans will be annoyed with him..

The fans will also have less tolerance for the team in general, IF they are losing... Simply bc of the possibility that things may have been different with Lin... And perhaps, as the star of the team, Melo will take the blunt of that.

I think you're underestimating the level of anger and depression. And you're overestimating the solution that winning will provide. Fans in NY are sophisticated -- they know you're not going anywhere with Ray Felton at point. The wins will keep the boos at bay but they won't satisfy the fan base.

MSG will be a morgue or a hostile environment. I promise you.

And there is absolutely no guarantee that Lin is gonna be much better than Felton (and I'm hoping we match).

Do you think the FO doesn't want Lin back because he's a distraction? Woodson doesn't seem like the kind of guy who likes that BS. I mean, I'm a huge Lin fan, but it's like everything is in an orbit around him, and it's like a black hole for the other players.

The expectation with or without Lin doesn't change much in 2012/13. Melo on offense and Tyson on defense (if healthy) will be enough to get us to the playoffs. All that really needs to happen for the crowd to go f*ing apesh*t (in a good way) is for us to win 2 playoff games. That's all. 2 games.

Agree to disagree. Because I think you're overestimating Lin. Way more people than you believe are going to be understanding of not bringing him back for that kind of money if they do not.

People will be sad, reminiscent of a fun time. But winning will make them forget. And I think youre underestimating what the team will without Lin as well.

With Lin and Shump out:

Lin (30) / Felton (18)
Kidd (24) / Felton (10) / JR (14)
Melo (34) / JR (10) / Novak (4)
Amare (34) / Novak (14)
Chandler (30) / Camby (18)

Without Lin and Shump out:

Felton (34) / Kidd (14)
JR (34) / Kidd (14)
Melo (36) / Novak (12)
Amare (36) / Novak (12)
Chandler (30) / Camby (18)

Without Lin, it doesn't look good. One injury to the backcourt or a drug bust and we are back to playing Bibby.

That's assuming SAS and the twitter insiders have a clue what decisions management may or may not have made.

I'm dead serious. My life coach is helping me realize that perhaps therapy and "talking about stuff" is for losers, it's all about TAKING ACTION.

I love KG. I think he's great. I know its hard to be a Knicks fan. But Lin is not CP3. I want to Lin to stay. But Lin is useless to our championship hopes without Melo Amare and Tyson.

One may argue those 3 were worthless without Lin. Then I counter to say that Toney Douglas and Bibby were not NBA point guards.

I think it would be a terrible move to let Lin go. But its not the death penalty for the Knicks.

Felton was poor last year. I think Lin is better right now. But Felton is much better than Bibby and TD.

WIth Lin or without Lin its all on Melo STAT and Tyson and a solid pg.
