(assuming the tax is whats scaring them away)

Probably because of the fact that the Knicks won EB rights for Lin in the arbitration. That meant they could go over the apron to match Lin if they wanted, so they decided to save him for last and take care of all other signings while still under the apron. Now, as to why Novak and Felton got 4 year deals? That is a mystery.

Yeah, I'm like...can we give back some of these other guys. We're pouring lots of money into Kidd, Camby, Felton, Novak...and losing the really important guy.

The luxury taxes you will have to pay in the third year of Lins contract is....ridiculous. Felton isnt better than Lin, but hes serviceable, and the money he is making is much less. I think u guys will be fine next year with or w/o Lin. You still have Kidd, who can still produce.

Dolan lost 30+ million the last two days from the MSG stock and the decision was not even public, yet. Want to rethink it from a business perspective?

The stocks went down last week as well when Woodson said they would absolutely match by more than 30 million dollars. MSG will be fine, it'll go up even more when the Knicks, and Rangers make the playoffs again.

Oooh that I didn't know. Still...I see the stocks going down without Lin.

This is the same franchise that allowed Bernard King to walk...

But we give up assets to acquire Felton, etc.

I have contempt, outright, savage contempt for everyone associated with this decision. They should all be fired - and no, now with Lin no longer that elusive wild card, rest assured that this franchise will not win an NBA championship over the next several seasons.

They don't have a prayer to hang with Miami, Chicago, Oklahoma City, etc. These morons have just permanently cemented their competitive ceiling in place.

This team is so damn old.

I believe we have the highest average age in the league. Correct me if I'm wrong. Dark day for this franchise.

No but its important that your whole team wants to be there, especially a player who would be such a big factor in the teams sucess

Don't worry guys, 40 year old Jason Kidd will save us, just like Baron Davis did last year.

Doubt it. And if not..he''s DPOY, so what's your point? He's there over a lot of other centers. And he's starting.

It was never about the money, I think Lin pissed off Dolan, and a bunch of other people in the front office.

so why let him go if you're pissed? match and then trade him to toronto or some random place.

Can't trade for him a while, and if we do we don't whether or not his value will go up or down. I also believe that poison pill year would carry over to the team that trades for him, unlike Houston getting the 8-8-8. In conclusion they don't think its worth the headache for a guy who has yet to be proven.

This.

At least with Lin, if it didn't work on the court, you could have put together an attractive package using Lin + Amare or Shump or someone else to get another piece that may work. Now you don't have that. What a waste.
