(assuming the tax is whats scaring them away)

Probably because of the fact that the Knicks won EB rights for Lin in the arbitration. That meant they could go over the apron to match Lin if they wanted, so they decided to save him for last and take care of all other signings while still under the apron. Now, as to why Novak and Felton got 4 year deals? That is a mystery.

Yeah, I'm like...can we give back some of these other guys. We're pouring lots of money into Kidd, Camby, Felton, Novak...and losing the really important guy.

Those deals, with tax hits, are going to total over 100 million. And it's questionable that any of those players, at this point in their careers, are better than average. Now imagine three years from now.

We gave up 3 second round pick-equivalents too. I think we gave up like 7 second-round picks this offseason, to along with Lin, Fields, Harrelson, and Jeffries.

1. At least one of the Knick players was resentful of Lin.
2. James Dolan felt betrayed.
3. Grunwald actually thinks Felton is better than Lin, and convinced Dolan the same.
4. Jeremy Lin pleaded not to be matched.

I don't any of these will be the official reasoning from the team.

5. The team feels imo, Lin is an average pg with this team, but will be paid higher than such overall.

I'd take Jeffries and Lin over Felton and Thomas, easily.

JJ might be injury prone, but he' s not finished the way KT is. I loved Kurt Thomas back in the day, but he's done.

We also gave up Papanikolaou...not that Papa Nik was a blue chip prospect, but giving up any half decent prospect for nothing is stupid..but this is the Knicks after all.

8-8-8 for the rockets
5-5-15 for the Knicks

If Jeremy wanted to be a Knick why would he sign that structured kind off deal? Lin didn't want to be here. He wants his own team and he wanted out of New York. His agent knew the Knicks cap and tax situation, had a deal the Knicks said they would match and turned around and made the Knicks think twice by changing the payments up. It is what it is. Lin did not want to be here. I can't wait for us to play the rockets (Lin won't play though he'll be injured with his punk a**).

I really don't blame Lin at all, but i do want to hear what an actual team official has to say about why they aren't matching.

You make little sense to me. WHY would ANYONE blame Lin for the Knicks not matching???

And the only thing we'll hear from the team officials is 'spin'.

If Lin is a total bust how can we trade him with that contract.

Nah - it's two. They were all set to sign this guy and make him the "starter". They had a verbal agreement, Lin used that to get more money and they are PISSED.

The thing that amazes me (not really knowing the people involved) is that they let emotion get the best of them. Yeah he used you, get over it.
Play time is over.

Devastating! I can't believe that this fkn team has got me emotionally attached. Lin is a good player that is only going to get better, this really is an injustifiable, fkng STUPID decision.

Does it matter? Dolan paid Fat Eddy for 5 years. He can pay for Lin.

I called it before playoffs began and take no pleasure.

We paid Jerome James 30M over 5 yrs...and we balked on Lin. Sucks. Knicks need character in that locker room not superstar babies.

Paco was more than a username; it was a symbol. People can come to realgm knowing that there is at least one sane poster here. When they saw the name, they felt relieved.
