Summer League: Grizzlies vs. Wizards - 7/17/12 @ 6 PM

Post#1 » by Rafael122 » Tue Jul 17, 2012 10:56 pm

Quick thoughts so far:

Singleton is driving to the basket, but he can't finish. Upper body is still a bit weak, just can't finish as soon as he's hit.

Beal's J is pure, hit a couple of jumpers coming off screens. But he's also struggled against the zone. Not a good game for him so far.

We need a backup PG in the worse way.

Beal missed a few bunnies, but hit some really nice top of the key jumpers off the dribble. Would really like to see him be more assertive in the second half.

Mack is having another bad game, hopefully he picks it up in the 2nd like he did against the D-league team. Either way I'm not liking the prospect of him being our primary backup PG.

Josh Selby hits so absolutely ridiculous shots.

Whoops, forgot this game was going on, I'll watch the 2nd half. How has Vesely looked? Team stats look pretty bad.

Not good. Has had some pretty bad turnovers and his shot looks like last seasons. Aired a baseline jumper. Doesn't seem in the flow of the game.

Brad Beal has a pretty looking jumpshot, but it's not going in. He's still having the same problem he had in college.

Yeah.

Frustrating game from Beal so far. Just can't get his shot to fall and now it's in his head a bit.

I like that Beal is mixing it up inside, though he's missing some layups.

He's also got 6 or 7 rebounds as well.

Josh Selby filling-it-up, he is 6"2 and was the 49th pick in his draft. I believe Doc liked Selby.

Anyway, 2nd-round picks should not be tossed-away like Un-wanted garbage.

Ugh, I hate how Mack plays. He's such a damn ballhog and he doesn't know his limits. Thought the same last year when he played some extended minutes...

Just flat out terrible. He's chunky, slow and will turn the ball over if you pressure him even moderately. He has decent vision if you give him time, but everything else is sub-par.

Would like to see Beal command the ball.

Ernie Grunfeld better sign a backup point guard, or we are effed, espscially if Wall goes down.

So many needs on this team it's ridiculous.

Love the smart play by Beal! He's gonna have to keep working on his off the dribble jumper though.

Yep. Beautiful play to breakup that alley-oop.

What the hell kind of drugs is Selby on? This is insane.

Selby was on fire, NBA Jam style. He almost made that half court heave at the end lol.

Mack has been awful all summer league. He cant seem to get any separation and just seems a step slower than everyone. I wish we'd have gone strong after Aaron brooks.

Selby will be a decent NBA player in years to come. You can tell Beal is used to having ball hog guards, it seems as if he does not want the ball sometimes.
